Hi there, I have read both books, and am still waiting for my HCG to arrive, however, I have read so many posts regarding "cheating" "gaining back a few lbs" "cravings" etc...
My question is: If you switched to hormone free meat, organic veggies, purified water to name a few from KT's book, are you finding that you are the same carboholic as you were in the past? I am hoping that is not true. I am hoping those having a tough time with cheating, cravings and so on might be more due to not eating as "clean" as suggested. Just curious! I am so excited to get started, I hate waiting. ![]() |

I haven't started yet (just waiting for my bac. water to arrive) but I started a different diet about 3 weeks ago with my mother. The first 2.5 weeks was only certain veg and fruit, plus greek yogurt and lean meat - fish and chicken only, no beef. I am a huuugggeee sweets/sugar addict but I stopped cold turkey eating them. I will admit, the first 3-4 days were really hard, I was craving carbs all the time.. but after that, I totally forgot about them. I stopped wanting bread and bagels and sweets. When I broke down and had a bagel, I could only eat half because a) the half filled me up, and b) I felt SO bloated and gross after eating a few bites.
Now, I will admit I didn't follow through on that diet (we went on vacation = bad for dieting), but I really am excited to get back on it.. I feel like I have so much more energy... and I feel "cleaner" somehow too |

yes, I did a couple like that and cravings went, but they came back easy too, whereas this book makes it sound like you really lose them for good. Only if you start forcing yourself to eat sugar over and over will you develop that addiction again. When I quit those two diets, I never ate so much sugar in my life, I was ravenous. I have about 12 chocolate bars and numerous other crap just to get thru each day. Although I am a "know it all" about sugar, insulin etc... I cant get out of this cycle (well I WILL when my order arrives) haha
Hey maybe we will both be starting at the same time! I figure my goods will get here by the weekend I hope. Good luck to both of us! ![]() |

I think it all depends on how you approach the diet. If you approach it as a quick way to lose 30lbs then no. You are probably going to scale watch obsessively and unhealthily, daydream about everything you are going to eat the first day off of the diet, and cheat or go back to eating however after the diet. This is an amazing tool and, used correctly, can get our bodies back on track... as well as our minds. But it's not a miracle sure for all the reasons we got here in the first place like emotional eating and boredom. We need to be able to go into this protocol knowing what we want to focus on and change and make that the focus of our experience.
Believe me... I know. I cheated every other day for my first week on this diet and almost quit. I finally read a book on emotional rehab through the hcg diet and realized everything in it sounded like me. My focus on the diet is no longer to lose lbs. Don't get me wrong... I'm crazy excited that I will lose all this weight, but I think of it as an amazing side effect now. My goal is to feel better physically and be able to have a non-destructive relationship with food that has NOTHING to do with my emotional state. I think that in doing this I won't have to "fight" with my desire to eat everything in site after the protocol is done and I'll have a much easier time keeping the weight off and ultimately leading a happier life. I'm so tired of my life revolving around food and dieting.... |

For me...it seemed to drasticly change the way food tasted. I remember thinking i couldn't wait for pizza...pizza was all i could think about. When i finally had pizza...i was disappointed that i didn't make myself some fish for dinner instead! Chocolate doesn't taste the same to me either. I don't know if it's a temporary thing or not but i'll take it!
I agree with redefiningme...the temptations are always there, it's up to us to be strong and make a better choice. |
