Default How do you convince a family member ?
One of my family members is a health nut.. eats everything raw, hates anything that isnt natural, ecco friendly and so on.. she thinks anyone who doesnt live " her " lifestyle, is unhealthy and she tries to cram it down our throats constantly.God forbit she finds out I am doing this.I am pretty sure she can convince everyone around my family that what I am doing is bad for me etc.. I get so tired of it, hearing her rant on about the horrid stuff that is in coke zero and all other drinks if they are not squeezed from tree that has been blessed by fairies..seriously.. she is insane, over the line, and i think her hormones are so out of whack. and the problem is that no matter what you show her... its crapp since she thinks its all a lie anyway since the FDA and everyone else is not telling the truth... The weird thing is..
yes , i am overweight
yes, I smoked alot( stopped 6 months ago)
my colesterol is nearly normal
I do not have diabetes

I know all of this. .I am trying... have tried diets, pills and stopped short of getting lap band done.. she cannot accept anything I do or have..

So.. should i even tell her ? or just keep mum and have her try to figure it out ? or just say a fairy came in a night and peed on my big butt...melted it all away..

Your life, your choice. There are 3 roads. The high road: "Thank you for the information. I will look into that. So, how's work?" Main street would be to keep your head down and mouth shut and don't mention anything. Then there's the Dirt Road: "Shut up and mind your own business!"

Anyway, you are in charge of your own life. You don't have to explain yourself or any of your decisions. Be strong!

It's your life. Tell her or not, it's up to you. If she interferes, tell her it's your body and your life. But she's actually right about stuff like Coke Zero. LOL Do a little research yourself and you'll know what she's talking about. It will do you no good to go on this protocol then go back to eating crap food again because you will regain it, unfortunately. This needs to be a lifestyle change going forward. Read stuff for yourself and figure it out.

I don't feel the need to tell anyone. I let the results speak for me.

I agree it's your choice. I would let the results speak for themselves. At least on the diet you will be eating very healthy she may "feel" she converted you!! Lol

I also know people like this, and honestly they don't want to listen. Nothing you say will help and you will never do enough. You need to find satisfaction within yourself and not try and live up to her expectations. I had a friend once who talked about health nuts such as her. She said they had a preservative missing. I always thought that was very funny. I also agree about the stuff in Coke Zero and all artificial sweeteners. Regular sugar is much better then those. If you are going to drink a coke, do it in moderation and drink the real stuff. Stay away from low cal and diet foods. They are horrible. If you are going to eat bad at least eat the real deal. It's healthier then the fake stuff.

Good luck! Come here for support...we all care and want you to succeed. Show the naysayers how much you lose and how fantastic you look. If they want to criticize take the low road!

no need to try and convince her. dont even bring it up, just tell her it was the fairy if she asks. or maybe you could have her read 'pounds and inches' if you feel the need. I found it easier when I told my family about it, so they wouldnt offer me any crap foods. Now after losing my first 23 pounds i have 3 fam members wanting me to put in a order of hcg for them. Hey she may approve of your new diet since your not supposed to eat 'crap' but why do you need her approval anyways.

Thank you for the replies

I think I will just take the high road on this.. She really does not need to know.. anything..

Oh and btw.. I dont drink Coke Zero.. do not like it at all..That was just a example.. Perhaps I should have said anything with sweeteners in it.. Even Stevia or Truvia..
Starting next week since my shots have not come in yet

Keep us posted on how you do. Just remember people can be strange. Some will be happy for you and others will be jealous. It takes determination and effort to lose weight. Even though this diet is by far the easiest with the most dramatic results some people don't want to be in a different place.

You will do wonderful!

I echo what everyone's said. The only person you can change is YOU. The protocol absolutely works, follow it to the T, and in a few weeks she'll be wondering what you're doing and she'll see how it's working. Whenever I've encountered hostility I simply say I've cut out processed food. It's the truth. SHe's found something that works for her, that's great -- you're not her, even better.

I like the half-truth by omission thing. You truly ARE on low-fat, low-carb, low-calories diet, with an emphasis on organic items with healthier preparation.

What's to lie about? You don't have to tell her about the injections, just like you wouldn't tell her if you were taking Toviaz to keep from peeing on yourself when you sneeze or Wellbutrin for depression.

And....drumroll for my husband.....I had not told him about the injections. I JUST told him 30 minutes ago on the phone (I was struggling with no sharing with him about the diet and my feelings and my successes, and I was struggling with withholding the info from him), and he was IMMENSELY supportive and helpful and understanding - all the while constantly reassuring me that he loved me AND my body totally. Whew - I am relieved to have that off my chest, and honestly I have the greatest husband around! (He is somewhat involved with the pharma business, and I had a lot of worries about what he would say about this in general, much less about me specifically taking it.)
