I bought a rotisserie chicken tonight and ate some of it...it was good. Then I read the ingredients and it said soybean oil...yikes!!!! Anyone ate it through P2 and had problems. I am on R3P2 vVLCD 4 and have lost 6lbs.

I had it several times with no problems. I just made sure the skin was off and squeezed the breast in a paper towel to remove any extra fat.

Marnie, I'm in life maintenance after 3 rounds, and I never fail to gain weight when I splurge on a rotisserie chicken. It just took me 5 days to get back to stabilization weight after finishing a chicken over the course of 3 days. They're just so darn convenient to pick up at Costco, but it isn't worth the weight gain. I'll stick with making my own from now on. Thanks for sharing the soybean oil ingredient. I avoid soy and soybean oil whenever I see it; I never thought to look and see if ingredients were listed on the chicken packaging.

Bebol,
So when you are on phase 4, you never buy Rotisserie chicken?
Is it bad?
Is soy bad as well
I always thought Rotisserie was actually a good way of cooking.

Please let me know

Actually I had been buying rotisserie chickens on occasion, but I always gained weight and didn't know why until mh1973 said the chicken she bought listed soybean oil. I don't respond well to soy in general and stopped soy supplements after they triggered migraine headaches. I've been following the Marksdaileyapple website during my maintenance and soybean oil is discouraged in his "primal" plan. Mark writes: "Soybean oil is heavily refined and ought to be avoided. This junk won't do you any health favors at all. Aside from anti-nutritive compounds in soybean oil, most soybean oil contains some level of dangerous trans fat."

There's a lot of conflicting information about soy, so you should go on how you feel when you ingest it. But the more processed the soy product is, the less healthy it is for you. I've started making my own chicken thighs by dipping them in egg and coating them in parmesan cheese and baking them for half an hour. Much better than the rotisserie, and less expensive, too!

Your best bet concerning ANY meat is to weigh and cook it yourself. It's understandable that time-wise it's easier to buy it already cooked, but to combat that problem, just find 2 times/week to cook/grill and do all of your meat then, and throw it in the fridge and take it out when you need it...I work nightshift and overtime and if I can find time, then anyone can...You have to be organized on this program and have the food ready, or you'll be likely to stray...

To ensure maximum and lasting results, I would strongly suggest NOT eating rotisserie chicken during P1, P2, or P3. At the clinic where I help patients on this program, we do NOT allow them Rotisserie chicken. The Dr. Simeons protocol makes it very clear that no sugars or oils are allowed. Many of these super market rotisserie chickens contain oils, high sodium, are very fatty and contain sugar in hidden forms, such as maltodextrin and dextrose. In addition, the protocol states during P2, all visual fat must be trimmed. This is impossible due to the fact the bird is cooked whole on the bone. In the clinic where I work, I've witnessed patients who had eaten Rotisserie chicken in P2 and P3 and ended up having trouble later stabilizing their weight. The most dangerous thoughts you can allow yourself while on HCG are "I can have just a little bite, it won't hurt" or the "Oh I guess it's okay because I still lost". The best rule for the best success on this is don't eat it if you didn't cook it.

Unfortunately, just because you lost a little after eating off the protocol does not mean all is well.... The drop could be water weight. Often it may take several days for your body to show that you didn't follow the guidelines. Once you interrupt the process of HCG, you may continue losing weight, but you're not going to lose the stubborn fat the HCG diet is meant to target going forward. What does this mean? It means you could be setting yourself up to gain some weight back afterwards.
