Default Exercise on hcg?
The instructions with my drops said not to exercise, "but if you must, only a 20 minute walk".

I see a lot of posts about people adding exercise and some saying don't do it at all. I exercised pretty regularly before (like 3 times a week, my eating habits were bad so i dint lose the weight, I started hcg to kind of kick start the weight loss and help my body get used to eating less) I am feeling slightly cooped up and bored without exercising, as well as bored because i'm definitely not eating as much as I used to.

I have these workout videos that do 10 minutes cardio routines, would it be unhealthy for me to do a 10 minutes cardio exercise every day? I am worried i will run into muscle problems if i am inactive through the whole hcg cycle, what if i add in an extra half a serving of protein to make up for the exercize? (I am at 500 cal a day, if I add an extra half serving of lean meat I will be under 600 and be getting a 10 minutes workout in)

I am at 170lbs right now I would be happy with getting to 140.lbs but my ultimate goal is 135.

I excersie ALL OF THE TIME. I do weight training 3 x a week, cycle 2 x a week and 1 water aerobics class a week. sometimes, i do feel like i would lose more if i didn't work out as much, but then i remember what the benifits of exercise are.

increased mobility
flexibility
the ability to breathe
conditions your heart and lungs
helps with bone density (really needed as a woman!)
etc...

None of that gets better with diet alone. I will caution you to watch your blood sugar though and your energy level and listen to your body. You will know if your body can't handle it. Also, if you do weight training, know that it is going to a little longer to "recover" because you aren't getting as much protien...

with that being said... i have lost 19 lbs in 19 days this round, and I am happy with that. Might could be mroe if I didn't work out, but who can complain about a lb a day!

A diet alone doesn't do ANY of these things.

well before I went on this diet I had a personal trainer, and with my workouts she gave me, she told me I needed to eat at least 1500 calories a day, and said if i ate any less I would store everything and she said whats why I wasn't losing weight.

My trainer told me to eat more not less especially if i was working out almost every day, she said your body doesn't develop the way it should and you ruin the longevity of results from working out by going on crash diets like this. So we will see if i even lose weight or gain it.

I wanted to check with people who are doing the hcg diet and if they get results from working out and if the results are sustained over a period of time
. I am not overweight, I just want to lose weight for my own confidence, so once i lose the few lbs, i don't want to go back on hcg, I just want to continue eating healthy and working out to keep my results from this diet.

Kristen- my first HCG round was in June and by the end of maintnance I had lost about 45 lbs. I managed to keep all of it off, until December when I got a little lax with my holiday eating....

Like i said- i am already down 19 in 19 days (so, really 17 on the VLCD).

remember that your trainer isn't an expert on anything but really pulling a paycheck training people. I have seen good trainers and bad trainers, and they don't really know what the HCG is doing to your body.... to be honest, they don't understand it at all most of the time.

Try doing some lighter excersice, cardio things, and see how it affects you... only you will now how your body is going to react to it.

my trainer is actually certified and a nutritionist. The information she gave me was before the hcg, she doesnt know I am taking it. She udnerstands muscle development and metabolism on its own and when I wasnt on hcg she said i needed to eat more, and when I was eating more i was losing more especially with working out.

My question was more or less how does that work with hcg with such a limited calorie intake? If your muscles need energy to develop how can they truly develop correctly on a limited intake? That's why i was curious about increasing protein if i was going to workout, in order to fuel my muscles i would need more food.

Again, I don't have a significant amount of weight to lose. I am 5'6 170lbs and I am a size 4, most of my weight is already muscle weight. I just want to rid myself of some fat in various areas but I don't want to lose the muscle that I already worked so hard to gain, im worried of atrophy.

I appreciate everyone's response on this. I am still curious, still learning, and still trying to find whats right for my body on this diet, as it is my first week, i will be learning all my adjustments this time around and be prepared for the second go around.

I ride huntseat and dressage for an hour twice a week and walk most days for 10-20 minutes, but I'm not willing to do much beyond that. I do a full body stretch every day, at least once a day.

Thanks Esme! I didn't even think of stretching daily!! I normally do it when I work out, but its probably a good idea to stretch every day. I am thinking I should be fine with a 10 minute Pilates cardio workout at least 3 times a week.
