How does everyone weigh themselves each day? I'm wondering because after several days of weighing myself several times and getting varying results a lot (I take the best 2 out of 3) I finally just used my medical scale which is said to be the most accurate. This morning I got so frustrated, I stepped on the scale and it said I had a 2lb gain. Can't be! I said. Stepped back on, this time down 4lbs. That seems odd, I said. Stepped back on over and over, trying to get a best 2 out of 3 and just got a ton of different numbers all over the place. It really makes me wonder. I recall hearing about other people being down only ounces one day only to have a big drop the next day. Or to have a small gain with a bigger drop later. Or to gain big numbers only to have it drop later. Etc, etc, etc. it just makes me really wonder if maybe the digital scale is not always being accurate. I am going to try and weigh myself with the balance scale for a few days-most accurate of them all. The only thing I don't like is that it only as increments of .25 (instead of the .2 on my digital) but if it's accurate I'll make do. I think the scale is great not because it's the most accurate picture of our health (it can't take inches into account) but as the most accurate depiction of our progress.

I try to always make sure it's on a flat surface, so I don't think that would be the problem, but tomorrow I think I might take it downstairs and use it on the hardwood floors (I usually place it on a flat part of the bathroom tiles, it fits exactly in one tile). I think I'll try the battery thing too, just to see what happens. But I do think I'll double check myself every once in a while on the balance scale. It's easier to check for accuracy, so long as it balances at zero with nothing on it. I'm glad though that I had the good sense to re-check when the numbers seemed odd, otherwise I would have gotten quite discouraged by now!

I actually found that moving my scale around in the bathroom (ie, storing it next to the toilet, pulling it out to weigh) was giving me wildly inconsistant readings!
I ended up buying a small (2'x2') piece of plywood from Home Depot & using it as a base in my bedroom where I don't have to move the scale around. It just sits there in the corner all the time. Since I did that, my readings have been pretty darn good/consistant. Oh, and I covered the plywood with pretty contact paper, so it's not just an ugly hunk of wood lurking in the corner. ![]() |

Snapshot, that is a really interesting point! Because I actually move it into place so I can weigh each morning. It sits in a corner that's not really accessible, so I always bring it out to the main area to weigh and then pick it up and put it back. It didn't even occur to me that could be the issue! Thanks for the info, I'll keep it in one place from now on and see if that works. Thanks!
