I know people who have used a small amount and still lost, but as always, sticking to protocol is best and therefor it would be a no-go by the book

As you've seen, it's not on the original protocol (or anything like it, as it wasn't available when Dr. S wrote the protocol).

That said, I've tried a bit in this round (R3) and have still lost. But I will say that I lose better when eating "clean" (no Walden, all on-protocol foods, low sodium, not too many recipes with things like Braggs Aminos) than when I include these things. And I'm not talking about my next day opinion/analysis of those losses. I'm comparing a full week of eating "clean" versus a full week of adding some of these things. Overall, I just lose better without.

In addition, being on R3 I'm a firm, firm believer that R1 should be as close to protocol as you can manage. If it comes down to using a little Walden on your salad or a full blown cheat, opt for the Walden. But if you can power through it and manage without, that's preferred, IMO. I tend to be one of those folks where a little bit leaves me wanted a lot more so I try my best to avoid it altogether.

I agree with everything Cindy just said. Your first round should follow protocol as strictly as possible. I had a great first round, but on my second one I tried things like WF dressings and mixing veggies. Nothing too rogue (or so I thought) but my results over the exact same time frame were not nearly as good. I'm on R3 now, and am planning on staying on Dr S's protocol very strictly again.

Just my 2 cents, but if you look at the label, WF is just a bunch of chemicals - if there aren't any carbs, any fat, etc. I'm trying to avoid all of the processed, packaged stuff that I can. It just seems to work better for me this way.

I'm on P2, and I went ahead and bought some of the Walden Farms Italian, and what I did was pour some in a cup and either slightly dipped my salad in the dressing or, what some dietitians recommend, is dip your fork in the dressing first, and then get your lettuce; this way you get the flavor of the dressing, and you use minimal dressing. But I have to admit, I also had a couple of cherry tomatoes, a few slices of cucumber and a few slices of strawberries to my salad as well.....I'm crazy like that....it hasn't stalled my weight loss YET either, this may not work so well with others though.

I generally stay away from chemicals too. I will probably stay away from them.

I've used a couple of the Walden Farms salad dressings (bleu cheese and ranch) and the chocolate syrup (for coffee only). Not every day. Maybe 2-3 times a week total. Haven't really noticed a negative impact to my loss. But I don't overdo it either. On the dressings, the ingredients really don't seem that bad, except for sucralose. I know, any "ose" can be bad. But like I said, don't overdo it.
