Default Does Carb sensitivity change with rounds?
So I have been frustrated, because it seems I am super carb sensitive. I also feel bad, because I did not really believe other people when they said how bad it is. I was wondering if I did another round would there be a chance i would get less sensitive? I eat a salsa with sugar as the 8th ingredient, and I gain a pound. I eat a side of pasta, and gain 1-2 pounds. Things I could absolutely eat before like qdoba no tortilla. I gain 1.5 pounds from. I know it might partially be because i am smaller than before, but it feels like it is out of control. This was 4 months into P4.

I would be ok with gaining sometimes from carbs, or if I binged or ate a piece of cake or a brownie. But I don't do that, and I gain. I have been able to stay in an acceptable weight by eating mainly meat and cheese and a few vegetables, but staying under 30 carbs a day.

Until I started this round I was doing Lepton reset. Huge breakfast lots of protein, and a lunch and an early dinner. No snacking no eating after 5 pm. Only on days that I ate out 1-2 times a week would I eat any carbs. I was even afraid to eat sugarless Ice Cream or Candy.

So I started a new round 4 days ago, but I am starting to lose confident in this diet. Not because of weight loss, because that is proven. It is easy to lose weight on HCG, but because gaining it back so easy after with very little carbs sucks. Hoping that my carb sensitivity will be different, because I am eating the melba this time, and 1-2 fruits a day. Last time I cut out 1-2 fruits a day, and did not eat Melba.

So the question I have is did anyone have different levels of carb sensitivity after different rounds? Like were you able to eat more carbs some rounds and not gain than others? And if so is there anything you think you might have done differently those rounds?

Hi...I have been doing the leptin reset too, and I have found that I still gain with carbs, but the weight falls back off again much quicker than before the leptin reset. I really really splurged for 3 days straight over labor day weekend. I gained 6 lbs (yikes)....today, exactly five days later, I weigh the same as I did before the splurge began....all 6 lbs came off very easily. I am not happy that I gained 6 lbs...but I am very happy that it fell off so easily. glass is half full?

I have not become more carb sensitive at all. I've always been sensitive to carbs. I think most people have to realize they have insulin issues that made them gain weight in the first place. Insulin issues=carb issues. since the leptin reset, I've been wonderfully stable and can eat more carbs than I've been able to eat in 20 years. Julief, are you sure you're not trying to maintain too low of a weight? Also how do you do when you eliminate dairy?

julief- don't really have anything to add except that i share your pain- i'm extremely carb sensitive and it got worse with each round. have you tried getting a BG meter and seeing what your blood sugar is after certain meals?

I feel very carb sensitive also. Honestly I haven't really added any starch or sugar back in. I am afraid to try for fear of gaining. I feel like I will gain just by looking at carbs. Maybe I have always been carb sensitive and just didn't know it. I ate and gained weight is all I know and I ate alot of carbs but also alot of calories in those carbs. These past few weeks I have started adding a few drinks and from that I have gained a couple pounds and feel fat, just can't seem to get them off and this morning was up a bit. I don't know what to do either.

i know many of us are LR and insulin-resistant, but i also think something with this protocol encourages carb sensitivity. perhaps P3, since you see it a lot on low-carb boards. i sure wish i had the answer. i'd be willing to cut down on my fat if i could tolerate a few more carbs.

I read either here or over at MDA that increased carb sensitivity can indicate a leaky gut. That is, it was there all along, but is now being revealed. As a leaky gut heals, some people are able to gradually add carbs back.

Ok, i dont feel alone anymore. I have completed 3 round of HCG. After each round I hardly add carbs/starches/sugars back in to my diet. I mainly eat high lean protein with lots of vegetables, some fruit and some good fat. The second I eat any type of carbs I gain! I really dont like it. I work out like crazy at the gym and that doesnt even help. I was so depressed yesterday when i stepped on the scale that i immediately ordered more drops. I dont want to do another round (because of bad side effects), but I might have to. I decided that today until next tuesday I am going to closely monitor my food eaten and my calories burned. If I can drop some weight, then the drops will be put on hold.

i'd try to build some muscle. part of the problem with multiple rounds is muscle loss- and the more you lose, the less you can stray from meat and veggies without gaining weight.
