Default Keeping it to yourself
Hi all - Anyone else out there who is keeping that they're using HCG to themselves? I just started today & with the exception of my kids - I've decided not to tell anyone what I'm using. Seems a little silly I guess - but being a private person and all the controversy surrounding the diet - I opted not to share. Can't say I've really decided what I'll tell people once I start to lose the weight

I haven't told anyone about the HCG either. Like you, I'm a private person and don't wish to have my personal decisions debated by people who don't know what they're talking about. I'm in my second round, and when people ask how I'm losing the weight, I just tell them I'm doing the low-carb thing, which is essentially true. The HCG just makes it easier! If someone comes to me for specific details, I'll probably tell them.

I'm 50/50. If someone asks me what I'm doing, I tell them. It hurts me to hear people are 2 weeks on another program (WW,JC,etc.) and they have only lost 5 pounds. I tell them what I use and if they've never heard of it, I tell them to google it or tell them to come to hcgdietinfo forums. If they have heard of it, I tell them how much I have lost in how little time, and they are interested in knowing more. I also tell "them" to google it.

I'm of the mind...If you have information that can change someone's life for the better...Share it. Also, I recall in Dr. Simeon's book he say's- not to lead anyone to think we are losing all this weight with out help. We have hcg helping you. If we tell someone we're doing the low carb thing and that's it, nothing else, they will also want to do the low carb thing. That set's them up for a dangerous weight loss future.

So I say...Share the wealth (of information). Who cares what people say about hcg. The proof is in the pudding. You've done all you can do to help. Let them wait to see your wonderful results. Hooray for us!!!

Ditto ladies....agree with all of you. If someone's really interested, I just tell them to google it...I researched for over a month before starting, it's not really something you can explain in 5 minutes or less, and in life, anything 'going against the grain' is often met with unwarranted 'poo-pooing' (a technical term), no matter what the subject is. Aren't we lucky we did our homework?

I didn't and still haven't told anybody what I did! The weight loss was for me and I didn't feel the need to explain and/or defend my methods with anybody.

I know I'll get blasted with negative comments - which I feel will only hinder my excitement to do this. I lost 30 lbs on WW and few people were too happy for me. Its too bad. I feel motivated by others success. So great that there is a place like this to come to for information AND support.

The only person who knows is my hubby. Nobody at work knows that I'm on HCG. Unfortunately, that backfired big-time for me this morning! I have a co-worker/friend who loves to bake. She left a slice of homemade chocolate cheesecake on my desk this morning. I about DIED. I've managed to avoid any cheating or giving in to tempatation, but this was more than I could handle. I had one small bite (OMG OMG OMG OMG) and then into the trash with the rest of it.

If any of you knew of my extreme sweet tooth, you would applaud me for this! :-)

That's awesome DogLuvr... I definitely applaud you! I too have a sweet tooth & cheesecake? Would have been an issue! haha People must ask questions though, no? People lose a lot and so quickly.

I first found out about HCG in Sept. 2010 by a mom from my daughters dance class. She worked at the doctors office where I got the shots. She was the only person outside my family that knew(thank god she told me about it). Only my husband and kids know what I do. I didn't even tell my mom. When she asks I tell her its like a low carb sort of diet. I try to change the subject quickly. I know she would research it and start calling me up saying something negative. If you knew my mom she loves "doom and gloom." And in her book, she knows more than me "all the time." She doesn't give me any positive comments ever, so I just choose to not bother telling her. My brother in law is a doctor and he basically starves himself to stay thin. I'm not telling him about the diet either. Its just my choice to let them all wonder how I got thin. Maybe thats mean, but I am done with peoples negativity, so thats the way it will be.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! I don't think its mean at all, caymangirl8. People don't NEED to know EVERYTHING. My family thinks I'm very secretive - which I'm not. I just don't tell them everything

While I respect everyone's wishes to tell or not, I'm with fbb on this. I've struggled so much with weight my whole life, trying so many different weight loss approaches, that I feel compelled to share the miracle of HCG. People can choose not to do it (many have taken a pass), or they can get on board and try it out (many have done that too). I learned about HCG by asking someone how they lost their weight. I want to keep the cycle going, especially of women helping women.

I agree with you derocherl! The only reason I'm keeping quiet about it now is that I'm afraid I won't have the willpower to see this through, and I don't want to have to explain why I'm not on the HCG diet any more. It's just a way of saving face haha. If people start noticing the weight loss though, I will definitely let them know exactly how I did it!!

I prefer to keep it to myself as well. I had a friend start doing it, and she told me. I definitely had my share of negative thoughts about it. I'm glad I've researched it more and am having great success. I don't want to hear or sense others judgement. I'm not someone that keeps my current diet a secret, ever. However, I've learned sometimes it's better not to, so I don't have everyone watching every bite you put in your mouth and giving their two cents left and right. If there was someone that I asked me how I was losing and they were trying to lose I would probably tell them, but I wouldn't tell the two skinny mini's in my office. Oh, I can hear their thoughts already.

caymangirl8- Absolutely! If you have negative people around you... keep them out. I say share the wealth (of information) only because it is such a great diet. Every time I see an overweight person, my heart just wants to run to them and share what I know so they can start feeling the joy I have been feeling since starting hcg. But, I have some family and some friends that would discourage me so much they would throw me into a funk and steal my joy. Hands off my joy, aint nobody taking this from me. NO WAY!!!! You can count on it that they would never find out about hcg from me.

I think hcg is so good that I want to share it with others, so I do, but only for the ones who really want to know.
People who love so much to live in their own misery are lonely miserable souls. They will be the first to tell us how "awful" we look because we've lost so much weight. Keep them out.

Share it with whomever you want. Don't share it at all. This is YOUR journey. Not theirs.

HAPPY LOSSES TO ALL!!!

I have told a few people very close to me, also the same people that introduced me to the diet. As for others I want the wow factor, they don't get progress reports. They get to see me looking better, then when they say "OMG what did you do?" . I will tell them so they too can experience it.

This is exactly what I think about when keeping it 'private'.

Now that people are noticing my loss, I'm getting more inquiries into the "how" I did it. They see me eating clean, so I tell them that I watch my caloric intake, cut out sugar and refined carbs, drink a lot of water, and "supplements". Most people really don't "care", they are curious and sometimes just plain nosey - so I don't reveal. My life is not Reality T.V. - some people just want to know everything!

Gardenia - that's great! I'll have to remember that sort of wording. I kind of already prepared a few people by saying that I was going to be 'smartening up' and that I was going to be really strict with myself... also no sugar, drinking, no eating out (which I tend to do a fair bit of). I'm so excited to do this and can't wait for the lbs to start dropping off. Congrats on your 36 lbs weight loss! How much did you lose R1?
