I'll tell you what I do, and it works for me

I run for 15-30 minutes (depending on the day I've had). I have to tell you though, I worked up to this! I started running as long as I could, then walking until I got my breath back, then run again, walk..run... walk... Don't expect to be able to run right at first and don't give up! You'll work your way up to longer and longer periods!
After that, I usually do either the eliptical or recumbant bike for another 10-15 minutes, really pushing myself (depending on how long I ran).
I then go and do a shortened (ashtanga/power) yoga routine (about 20-40minutes) so that my muscles elongate and I use my own weight as resistance. You dont' really need more than your own body weight as resistance - you just might need to take a few classes and learn a bit of a yoga routine.

In total, I am usually at the gym for about 1hour although some days I might be there upto 1 hours and a half (depends on what I need to do that night).

Just whatever you decide to do, don't give up! It's really hard at first to get into anything physical after not being physical but then it gets to be such a part of your life and your body craves it! I love working out now! These days I go about 3 times a week and do a full ashtanga yoga routine on the other days!

Cheers

One word of advance when joining this gym, make sure you are always changing your workout rountine as your body will get used to it over time and will stop working. Id try to go at least 3 times a week and work on something different in those three times, eg one day do all cardio work out, the next do weights etc and the next do a mixture?

Start off with something simple like: Stretching, crunches, dumbells, bench, shoulder, flies, etc.

Most authorities recommend 30 - 60 minutes of physical activity a day to stay healthy. Also try adding weight-bearing exercises at least 2 times a week. This will help burn some of the unwanted calories. The long-term benefit may be the most important. By building muscle mass, you will naturally increase your metabolism, which will allow you to enjoy more calories. Start slow and make it a part of your lifestyle.

And also you can go for diet plan by some experts. I have tried the diet plan by mydietchef and that benefits me a lot.

I would just head to the gym after you woke up, it doesn't really matter what time of the day you work, working out boosts your metabolism into high gear so you body is burning more calories all day long. I would just do 2o minutes of cardio followed by 25 minutes of weight training 3 times a week, the fat will really melt off your body!

I used to play badminton and volleyball but now, sad to say, I'd rather sleep due to exhaustion from working at night. Any tips?

Hello to all

I would like to know, how do you maintain a healthy body if your work requires you to render service in the night shift? I hope you could reply back to me.

Thanks.
