Here are list of surprisingly healthy foods that may benefit your health. Some people thing they are unhealthy but they may benefit you more than you think:

1. Mushrooms - You may not know this but mushrooms are the only vegetable source of vitamin D. Popular mushroom varieties like portabella, white and crimini are good sources of riboflavin and niacin.

2. Pork - Pork is an excellent source of riboflavin, thiamin, and B-6. Pork also rivals lean poultry as a healthy choice for complete protein.

3. Chocolate - Small portions of dark chocolate may help reduce the risk of diabetes, reduce bad cholesterol, reduce high blood pressure.

4. Beef - Beef tenderloin has the same fat and calorie content as skinless chicken thighs. It's rich in vitamin B12, protein and a good source of iron, zinc, phosphorus, B Vitamins and selenium.

5. Eggs - 1 egg contains 13 essential vitamins, protein, healthy unsaturated fats for only 75 calories. Egg yolks contain 213mg of dietary cholesterol.

6. Coffee - Studies showed that drinking coffee regularly may reduce headaches and reduces risk of diabetes, colon cancer and Parkinson’s disease. it also improves memory and decrease risk of Type 2 diabetes.

7. Spices - Turmeric and cinnamon have the anti-inflammatory and cancer-fighting properties.

8. Pistachios - They contain 30 different vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients including lutein and zeaxanthin. They also contain two antioxidants that may help reduce risk of age-related mascular degeneration with only 3 calories per nut.

9. Avocado - They are rich in mono and polyunsaturated fat and contain 20 vitamins and minerals.
A 1/5 of medium-sized avocado only contains 50 calories.

10. Potatoes - They are one of the best sources of fiber and potassium. One medium-sized potato (with skin) contains 160 calories.

mushrooms? vitamin D? Really? That's great.. I was starting to worry since I don't get enough sunshine nowadays.. Great info mikaela.
