Now I know that with cats and dogs (especially cats) one of the major reasons to feed canned food to them besides the fresher ingredients is the high water content. In the wild they would be eating whole prey that is anywhere between 50%-70% water content and on a dry diet they do not drink enough water.
My question is, are ferrets the same, because it would seem to me they would be? I'm working on moving to a Raw Whole Diet but I haven't gotten there yet (they just will not eat that mouse) so they are still getting mostly dry food. Now I do feed high quality foods. I give them a mix between Wellness Core, Innova Evo Feline and Ferret. I also add in duck soup made out of raw meat. But I'm thinking that it might be better to add some canned food into their diet until they are on a completely raw diet. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone know about that? Suggestions? |
