Default Ideal Body Weight
In calculating your Body Mass Index, which is the proportion of weight and height, know that:
  • over 30 is considered obese.
  • between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight.
  • between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered a healthy bmi.
  • under 18.5 is considered underweight.

Why is this important? It is essential to know your body mass index to know if you need to shed off some pounds or if you need to put on some weight. For health reasons, we have to be aware of this for us to make all the necessary adjustments in our eating habits and diet.

Oh no! I'm underweight! I guess I should really eat some more and gain more weight. More protein for me maybe and healthy carbs. My older sister is always telling me that I am pushing myself too hard and it's not good. I guess she's really right. The bad thing about it is that I don't think I'm too skinny at all. I actually though I need to push myself and lose some more weight.

I think what your problem is that, you think you don't see your real body condition because you're too afraid to gain weight again. You think that by eating and consuming regular food serving, you are going to put on some weight and you're scared of that. It's all in the mind kathy. I think you should put on some more weight because your body is going to suffer if you don't attend to what your body needs.

I agree with mikaela. You should do something about that fast before you suffer from health risks. You should not be afraid of eating more and gaining weight. You are already good at controlling your calorie intake. Just set another limit and make sure that you incorporate all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to put on some healthy weight. This should be easy for you because you're already used to counting calories and controlling yourself. This time sit back a little and stop worrying about your weight because your health should be your highest priority.

Yeah I think I really should. You both are right, I'm scared of losing control because I don't want to see myself fat again. It was not a good experience because I also suffered increased heart and difficulty in breathing. I'll take your advices and make sure that I eat a balanced diet to put on some healthy weight. Thanks!

You have to remember that a balanced diet coupled with exercise is going to help me put on some healthy weight. I'm sure you'll be alright. As what sasa already mentioned, you already are good at controlling your craving so this is going to be easy for you. You just have to choose the right food to ensure good health.

That's right! Age, health needs, and body frame should be considered when dieting because each of us has different vitamins and minerals needs to make our body perform at its best.
