Welcome back to Atkins and to this forum!
Your question is a common one... If you go by the book, the answer is no. DC and CZ are not allowed (ever) because they contain aspartame. HOWEVER, if your body can handle the aspartame (it doesn't make you sick, or shaky, or hungry and you're ok with it as an artificial sweetener) then you can have it. Some people report that it doesn't effect their weight loss one way or the other... others say it helps them because they can't get Splenda sweetened drinks and they "need" it for a sweet fix. You'll have to make the decision for yourself. Experiment. See how it effects you. Personally, it can make me ravenously hungry... IF I drink it on an empty stomach. So, for ME, I'll have one a day with my lunch. If I go out at night and I want something other than water... I'll have DC then. My only "just be sure" advice along with this... JUST BE SURE to get the water, too. If you're drinking diet soda in place of water, that is NOT okay. You need to drink the water. Period. Good luck! Keep us posted on your success and struggles! |

Totally agree. I normally only have one sugar free drink a day because they aren't that important to me, drink lots of water, and it does not seem to affect me. During OWL I would even drink a bottle of the store bought sparkling flavored water which had "some" aspertame in it, and it never bothered me.
Still, push the water. AND read the book. Get a copy at a thrift store or used book exchange, or go to the Atkins website for their Induction series. Linda's low-carb site, www.genaw.com/lowcarb is also very helpful in its menus. And be sure and take your measurements...now! Write them down...track them...you will be astounded at the change in a short time! That's all my advice for today! LOL! My best to you! Toni |
