Default Don't do this at home!
Hi All,

Well, here's a lesson to be learned!

NEVER try going from drinking 4 litres of Pepsi Max (caffeine containing diet soda) a day to drinking 10 pints of chilled water!

Although it was the right thing to do I think I should have done it very gradually!

Basically what happened was, by the end of the night I had a splitting headache and I felt terrible!

Probably ALL down to the caffeine withdrawal.

I went for my usual 4 mile run and felt as if I couldn't lift my feet off the ground.

I was so screwed up I fell asleep in front of the telly, on the sofa at 11pm, something I never do, but my head was so, so sore.

I awoke at 3 in the morning and staggered to the cupboard and ate 12 Oreos ( I think I was still half asleep!) and guzzled a litre of Coke.

Now, normally my will power is exceptional but I was so ill I guess that my body was craving something.

It was as if I was sleep walking!

I woke up this morning surrounded by empty oreo wrappers and an empty soda bottle, feeling a lot better!

I am going to write off the last 3 weeks and start induction again and this time do it properly!

I have learned a very important lesson from this and I hope that this info may help someone else.

Gary

P.S. MY kids are NOT amused about the oreos!

You tried to go cold turkey without the caffeine your body was running on day after day. Imagine how drug addicts must feel if you felt that bad going without caffeine!

You can go cold turkey... take OTC pain medication and cut back on exercise for 3 or 4 days. OR, you can cut back gradually. Me, I'm a band-aid ripper. I don't like to suffer a little over a longer time... I'd rather just rip the thing off and be done with it. LOL My grown kids still avoid me when they're wearing band-aids. But try weaning yourself if that's your style... one thing that may work is to alternate water and Pepsi. If you drink one glass of water, you can have one glass of Pepsi. No Pepsi until you've had the water. That will force you to spread the water out over the day... and will cut your Pepsi intake naturally while keeping you hydrated.

Good luck!

Gary,

Induction is really hard for some people, especially my soda loving friends!

How are you doing?

My best wishes to you!

When it comes to caffiene I find I have to taper off - If I go cold turkey the headaches are horrible!

I find I can cut my consumption by about 1/2 each day and avoid the bad pain.

Thanks for the support fellows!

I have done it!

Cold turkey all the way!

After a few uncomfortable headaches, feeling wierd and lethargic I now feel fit to fight the flab!

I am now "officially" on day 2 of induction, eating properly and drinking LOADS of pure, filtered, chilled water!

It's really not that bad!

The filtering makes it taste wonderful!

I didn't realise that caffeine was so powerful!

Anyhow, onward & upward!

Does anyone know what effect caffeine & water have on your muscles?

Mine have been feeling "different"?

Love & kisses!

I was reading yesterday... and came across something that said excessive amounts of caffeine can cause low blood sugar, triggering your body to crave carbohydrate to replace the glucose. Makes sense... if you drink too much coffee you can get that icky, stomach churning, light headed, hands shaking feeling... I always attributed it to the caffeine. Only, it was low blood sugar caused by the caffeine. If I ate, I felt better. That's probably why people eat donuts with coffee. LOL

Something to remember when reaching for that next glass of soda or cup of coffee.

Congrats on giving up your Pepsi habit!!!
