Default Getting frustrated!?!?!?!?
I am going on week 4 starting 06/22...the fist 2 1/2 weeks, I lost almost 12 lbs...then I started my menstrual cycle (sorry guys) and it stopped. I am still going strong but have not lost ANYTHING in the past week. ALSO...I bought those ketone strips and have not gotten past "trace" wtf????? HELP! Here is my sample diet...

breakfast: 2 eggs, cheese, turkey sausage (sometimes added veggies)
lunch: turkey burger with cheese (no bun) "Steamers" brocolli with cheese sauce...or salad with chicken and ranch dressing (i made it)

Dinner...meat and veggies...

snacks: almonds, string cheese, etc.

I also just added a low carb protein shake once a day on the days I play basketball...

Could be a couple of things.

Depending on the cheese and the quantity, you could be getting hidden carbs.

Or you might not be eating enough. I would try adding some fat to the diet. That has helped me with stalls in the past.

One of the things that stood out to me is that 3 weeks into it, you shouldn't be eating nuts yet.

Now... how much do you need to lose? Not want, NEED. 12# in the time you've been doing this is excellent!!!

What's in the protein shake?

What are these "steamer" things? Do you make the cheese sauce yourself for the broccoli?

Are you eating more than 4 oz of cheese a day?

Don't worry about those ketostix. A trace is all you need. It just confirms that there are ketones in your urine which confirms you're in ketosis. Other than that, those stix are useless. Darker is not better.

yes, fat, eat fat. so many people forget that fat is an important part of this diet. many people keep referring this as the low carb diet. it should be remembered as the low carb (which means some important carbs in the right form), protein, AND fat. this isn't a low calorie diet. fat is an important part of this diet. eating a chicken breast with the skin on it is actually better than eating the chicken breat without the skin!!!

This i remembered from an interview on CNN with Larry King and Dr. Atkins. I need to go find me some more scientific references though too.

I am an unrepentant coffee drinker and I can get away with the caffeine. In the past when I stalled, I would start using coffee cream to get me going again. Usually I drink it black.

also...the steamers are a premade bag with broc and cheese sauce...the carbs are VERY low according to the package. I am eating probably 10 almonds per day...should I stop that? The proetin shake just says low carb protein shake with 2 net carbs...

You're switching your body to run as a fat-based metabolism instead of a carb-based metabolism.

If you do this, and then don't feed it any fat, you're starving yourself in a sense.

Your metabolism can slow down, and your body will actively fight to not lose weight.

Check out some of the journals... lots of people post their daily menus there. Also, check out the threads in the Diet Menus forum.

gotbaum... do you have the Induction foods list? How about the book?

read the book (if you haven't already) - but know, too that pauses, ESPECIALLY around your period are completely normal. if you read my journal, you'll see it happens to me every month! i actually have realized that i don't lose anything for about 2 weeks every month, then make up for it a bit on the outside weeks. except may (i think it was may) when i had an atkins bar moment....

About the ketone strips don't worry to much about them.. Hydration has a lot to due with the results.. When i started Atkins I tested just 3 days in and they were as purple as it gets but I was also dehydrated since All I used to drink was coke... Then when I started doing the whole drink the right amount of water thing it dropped down to a small trace...I read that proper hydration can remove some trace of the ketones... So if you can feel ketosis but cant see it on the strip its not such a bad thing!!
