Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself.
I first tried out Atkins in 2002, combined it with a sensible exercise program and lost about 20 lbs within the first 2 months. The weight gain slowly crept back in starting in 2006 when I moved in with my significant other. For whatever reason, he can eat anything, and still keep his athletic figure. All the soda, chips, fast food that he wants, and still have washboard abs. Over time, I convinced myself, a bit of this won't hurt. Especially since my SO loves desserts. He has a real sweet tooth and drinks all these Frappacinos from Starbucks which is loaded with sugar! As you can imagine, it's hard to say no when you are bombarded with these temptations day in, day out. So here I am, at my pre-atkins weight, figuring I need to get some self control back since 30 is around the corner and all of my designer jeans no longer fit. I've read the book and know all the basics, just need to stay focused and say NO to all the carbs beckoning me. The low carb lifestyle has worked very well for me in the past, I was with happy with the way I looked, I no longer felt hungry all the time, I almost never had issues with feeling bloated etc. My weaknesses are: milk and alcohol. Not together, naturally, lol. I love my caffeine fix (no it has never stalled me), and whilst I am no alcoholic, I do love mixing up cocktails and having the occasional glass of wine. I think the hardest part of restarting atkins is having to sacrifice both until I reach the maintenance phase. So wish me luck as I begin this journey to lose 20 lbs. I plan on combining low carb eating with treadmill exercises. I just hope I have the willpower to stay on track ![]() |
