"And we wonder: The fat she eat, will the body use that as fuel, before it takes on burning the bodyfat? Meaning, if she eats a lot of fat, will that mean she will not burn the fat who is already on the body, hence not loosing weight?"

That's exactly what happens. Your body will digest what you eat, convert all it can to whatever the body can use for energy and then, if it needs it, use stored energy (fat). A person on a low (enough) carb diet will make the switch to burning ketones, instead of glucose) for energy. When carbs are not available, the body will convert fatty acids to ketones instead... we can use either, it's just faster/easier for the human body to convert carbs/sugars to glucose. And, it easier for the body (when its functioning correctly) to USE glucose.

But, if a person is eating too much fat (yes, there IS such a thing) then there's no need to convert adipose fatty acids (body fat) to ketones. Your wife will either have to cut back on fat intake or increase her energy needs.

DR Atkins and the Atkins website all say that it will be necessary to cut back on fats/proteins as carbs are added. It only makes sense that as your body weight comes down, so do your caloric energy needs (whether you burn ketones OR glucose). It sounds like your wife has found her level for maintaining. If she wants to lose more weight, she'll have to change something... she may even need to add more carbs (from veggies) and eat less fat. She may have to move more. She may have to do both. Of course, if she's still losing slowly... she may be fine. Weight loss definitely slows down. That last 10# can take months to lose.

Months.
