Default How many carbs in vegetables?
Hi, I have been looking for a list of the amount of cabs in vegetables.

If someone would be able to, could they list how many grams of cabs on in these vegetables per 100g?

Lettuce
Mushrooms
Green peppers
Red peppers
Red onions
Broccoli ( Not the stalk)

Also, I heard that these lose carbs when there boiled or cooked. How much would you say they lose? Im trying to eat at least 15g of carbs from vegetables a day.

Thanks

Check out http://www.atkins.com/Program/FourPh...FoodsList.aspx

I think it lists net carbs for most of the foods you mentioned.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't know what cups convert into grams, and I'm getting quite varied answers from the internet. Can anyone help?

Here is what I got from fitday per 100g:
Vegetable: Calories: Fat: Carbs: Protein:
Lettuce (raw) 14 14g 3.0g .9g
Mushrooms (raw) 22 .3g 3.3g 3.1g
Green Pepper (raw) 50 2.8g 6.5g 3.1g
Red Pepper (raw) 38.1 1.6g 6.2g 1.0g
Red Onion (sweet) 32 .08g 7.5g .8g
Broccoli (cooked) 54 2.7g 7.0g 2.3g
Broccoli (raw) 34 .37g 6.6g 2.8g

Yes it does look like the carbs etc, change depending on whether it is cooked or not.
If you use fitday, it has all these foods listed both cooked and raw.

The only thing I had an issue with was the red onion - I just used onion, sweet (raw) because there was no listing for 'red' onion and I know that they are sweeter than the white onions.

don't forget to check the "net carbs" (carbs minus fibre) - that's the number you want

so for example
broccoli raw:

6.6 grams total carbs, but 2.6 of those are fibre, so 100 grams has 4 grams net.

Cooking doesn't change the carb content... it changes how much will fit into "one cup" (or any other serving size).
