Default 4 days in then pig out!
Hi there
Newbie here - started Atkins 4 days ago and had here to confess and get support after just hitting the carbs - a whole tub of Ben & Jerrys and a bar of chocolate - feel terrible !! Back to it tomorrow I guess.
I've had compulsive/emotional eating problems in the past - i believe my eating/ weight/ body-image issues are the root of all my problems in life - I currently weigh 201 pounds, lost a few before I hit the carbs today - want to get down to 175, I know carbs are the problem , if I can stick to the Atkins plan I know it will work
So back to it tomorrow
Troy

The hardest thing about any diet is sticking to it.

My suggestion is to get organized. Plan a week of meals at a time. Buy food for those meals plus extra snack food for if you are hungry all at once. Go to a bunch of stores if you need but make it a single shopping trip. For induction, that could be hard boiled eggs, sliced meat, cheese (within limits).

If you can get rid of all the inappropriate food. Donate to the food banks, your neighbors or just throw it out. It is hard to eat the wrong thing if it is not there.

Obviously there are stores with lots of stuff. But stick to one shopping trip a week. With your list.

Another thing is set yourself a goal. If eating a week of meals in a row is difficult, set that as the goal. If you do it, give yourself something. Go to a movie. Take the afternoon off. Get your nails done. Maybe an expensive steak.

Maybe print a calendar and put a star on it if you eat 7 days in row or one for every day you eat on plan. See how many stars you can put in a row.

Persistence is key. Perfect is not. Try to limit your falls. Just because you did one meal or one snack badly does not mean that the entire rest of the day is not needed. Like what Happy1240 said, try to make the next meal on plan. No need to wait a day or two or even a couple meals. To make your WOE, you want to eat that way as often as possible.

Good luck.

Great Advice Scotty Mike and bluehex. I so agree on the one week and a reward. I love the idea of stars on a calendar. I have fallen in love with sugar free jello and a dollop of cream. It is such a great end of a day for me. I also love celery with a bit of cream cheese. One will give you the idea of ice cream and the other, will fill the crunchy needs. It does get easier, just accept the slip and go on. The temptations will get better. If you can't clean you home out of the bad food because of others there that want it, find a treat that is allowed in induction that you can eat while they are eating the food they should not be eating! Think to yourself how much healthier you will be and be proud of what you are and what you are accomplishing. You are stronger than the food.

Now ask bluehex to move this to the Progress threads and come in and post. We will be there.
