Hello Everyone, I started using Atkins Diet on Jun 1 and lost 13 pounds till Jun 12. However, the weight keep the same in recent four days. Is it normal? BTW, my blood pressure dropped from 100/160 to 80/110.
I cheated a little bit in the first two weeks. Have green peas and nuts for several times. But did not have them since Jun 11. Will this be a problem for the stall? I only eat eggs, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, sesame oil, also green leaves veggies. |

Having done Atkins successfully about 8 years ago, I do remember being disappointed after the wonderful early days of losing several pounds a week. The loss does slow down and sometimes, from memory, your body does hang on to the weight for a few days - but if you persist in the diet and do not do anything wrong you should be able to start moving the weight loss in the right direction again. The trick is not to give up first...your body has to give up trying to hang on to your weight!
Make sure you are drinking enough water and also take into account any hormonal changes that might be taking place. Stick at it and let us know how you get on after another four days. One good tip is to also take your measurements - sometimes you see changes in your measurements even when there appears to be no weight loss. This helps you to realise that you are still losing no matter what the scales may temporarily say. Sorry its not wonderful advice - there are lots of fantastic people on this forum who give brilliant advice, but as no one had replied to you yet, I thought I'd just add my penny's worth. ![]() Well done on your weight loss!! |

Yes Kim is right it happens to most people and that generally is when they give up - but hang in there, your body is adjusting to a lot of new stuff and in a way is just saying to you "Hey, should we be letting this go?". You just tell your body that you know what you are doing and keep on! It will start to shift again soon. Also, remember how long it took to put ON those pounds? This isn't a miracle diet, only a good one, you have to have patience

I over weigh myself. My weight fluctuates through-out the day as does everyone's. It is generally (lowest to highest ) AM after waking, after exercising, returning home from work, after lunch, immediately after dinner, and just before retiring for the night (combination of dinner and fluids taken at night).
Generally speaking, immediately after eating, every thing that you put into yourself shows up as weight. It does not matter what it is, how salty, how fatty, etc. After a few hours, you body processes the food. So some is excreted and some is absorbed. I forget the actual timing -- and it depends what you are ingesting, and where in the digestive system that food is processed, and when waste is removed. In addition, your normal metabolism is consuming energy (burning food or fat or glycogen resources) and losing water and carbon dioxide, etc. Some people like lots of data points. Others obsess over them. The generally preferred plan is to weigh yourself once a week in the morning. In between stay on plan and let your body sort it out for you. Mike |

Hmmm... I need to repeat this I think...if you are a woman of childbearing age your weight can vary by several pounds due to your hormonal cycle. So, for example, this Friday you may be 2lb heavier than last Friday, but actually you are carrying 5lb hormonal bloating so you have ACTUALLY lost another 3lb. I can put on 3lb overnight due to this and I'm a very small person, so I weigh every day so that I can see if it is real weight loss or hormones.
