Hi All,
I have been back on the low carb way of life for the past few weeks. Me and my partner did it last year, he lost 20 kilos and I had lost 5 but of strayed from the way of life and put it all back on again plus some! I have been going to the gym everyday working out for half an hour and then I walk too and from work everyday (an hour and a half all up). I have banned using the scales as I became obsessed last time and have decided to judge what the mirror tells me. The problem is I don't feel as if I am losing any weight, I do have problems going to the toilet on low carb. I am becoming disheartened and am ready to kick in the towel. I am 62 kilos, 5 foot 4 and want to get down to around 55 kilos. All your help and advice is much appreciated, Kristen Campbell |

First of all... if you're having "bathroom issues" that needs to get fixed. Are you eating 12 to 15ng carb from JUST the acceptable veggies?? This is way more than a few cucumber slices and a handful of lettuce now and then. Veggies will keep things moving. Also... are you drinking enough water??? 2L? Every day?? Water will keep things moving. You're walking... that's GOOD. That keeps things moving, too. Also... how much cheese are you eating? No more than 4 slices... 4 cubes... a day, right? There's a limit on cheese AND its "binding". So... add veggies, add water, keep walking, cut out cheese. In the meantime, don't hesitate to take a laxative. Get things working and then keep them working.
Now... regarding weight loss. Constipation can mask wt loss. Get that straight then see how you feel. If you don't want to use a scale, I get that. But find another way to measure your progress.... maybe measure your waist. Or your hips. You don't have to measure everything... just pick one and remeasure once a month. Or... find something in your closet that doesn't fit (pants are best, or a fitted sheath dress). Try to put it on. Remember how it looked, where it didn't fit. Then, once a month or twice a month try it on again. As you get smaller, the item will fit better and better. Good luck, stay in touch around here (the support is priceless) and keep on keepin' on! Okay I am going to try and up my veges a bit. I will buy some natural laxatives when I get home from work.
This morning I woke up and I actually do feel a difference for the first time! I am only around 60 kilos so I know it is going to take a long while for the weight to drop. Patience is a virtue! Thanks for your advice, I shall reevaluate what I am eating. Perhaps I should cut out cheese for now (its my favourite though) but I think that it can make me stall. |

How long have you been in this neck of the woods?
It was a shock to the system when I arrived here, I didn't even know my skin could tan! I haven't been to Sydney yet but dying to go. We might go down there for New Years this year (fingers crossed). How long have you been doing the low carb way of life? How much weight have you lost? |
