Default Aspartame
Why can't you have aspartame on the Atkins diet?

I understand the diet in principle, and it seems to be working for me in the week or so I've been on it, but the induction phase seems to have these really silly rules, like no aspartame and no coffee.

There is no way I will ever give up coffee, and no, it doesn't give me a craving for sugar.

Thank you in advance for any input.

the good doctor said in DANDR that he has found it causes stalls in some people. (aspartame i mean) - but as blue said, lots of people are fine with it (same with coffee)

so if you're fine with it too, go for it!

tracy

ps - glad you're doing well with the Plan!

Speaking of rules... remember, only THREE servings of anything with artificial sweetener per day. And those packets are 1g carb EACH.
