Default aromatic crispy duck!
bought some frozen aromatic duck with pancakes, I absolutelly love it and eat without pancakes (dont like the taste of pancakes), when I look at the nutrional information it has a LOT of carbs (somethng like 60g), since there is no breadcrumb on the duck, I wonder if the carbs come from the pacakes or does aromatic crispy duck is made with hidden carbs? thanks

I looked up a recipe for it that had nutritional info... for that recipe, it was 30g carb per 100g serving. It was loaded with brown sugar. Does your duck taste sweet? Is it sticky? Is it glossy? What are the ingredients (check the package). List the ingredients here if you're not sure if any of them are sources of carbohydrate.

hello, thanks for replying, I thought the carbs all came from the panckakes but NO, the duck DOES have sugar in it so I won't be able to eat untill next phase, I learnt a lot with you guys and decided to read the ingredients of the food I ate and OH BOY! lots of things with glucose, thanks a lot.

now, another question, I haven't finished reading the book and so far I have the feeling that you are not supposed to eat carbs at night time but when I eat a nice tasty beef/chicken I feel that a few leaves of spinach or slices of bell peppers would taste great, are you allowed to have some carbs at dinner time (6-7pm) during induction?

thanks a lot

What book are you reading? Every day you must eat 12 to 15 net carbs (that's total carb count minus any fiber grams) from vegetables. You can have a salad and a cooked veggie with your dinner every day. Have veggies with your eggs in the morning. Have a mixed green salad with lunch. Have cucumber with your afternoon snack. Get the Induction food list from the Atkins.com site... and eat your veggies!!

HI Tril,

I am reading The new diet revolution by Dr Atkins (2003 version). I do know he says you must have 20g a day and 12-15g come from veggies but somewhere in the book he says something like having most proteins at night such as a beef or pork ribs (I could swear it was on the phasis one but spent some time trying to find it and couldn't!), so I thought you're meant to eat all the carbs during the days but I probably misunderstood it. Thanks for putting me on the correct path again

You want to spread the carbs out over the day... 20g all at once could cause an insulin surge. You don't want that. So spread 'em out to keep your blood sugar stable (no peaks, no crashes).
