You know I was just sitting here thinking well I went to China and there was all these thin people there, but I must share with you all if you have not been to China before their food is nothing like our Chinese food here in the states. They do not have sweet and sour pork, or sweet and sour chicken at least not that I ever saw after spending three weeks there. But what I did see were a lot of veggies, even veggies I had never tried before and I wish I could find out what they were called and get them here. They did eat chicken and pork and other meats I had never tried( no they were not dog or cat) lol but other then a steam bun here and there with pork inside I did not see a lot of carbs. Did you mom? oh and yeah I was shocked when I found out no one knew what a fortune cookie was.lmao Apparently that is strickly an American - European thing. Thos things are gross anyways.

just so everyone knows....the comment about the shrimp being poop and eyeball free was made by SnicksD....not me...
I wish I had taken pictures of her reaction to those shrimp though...she was horrified...couldn't even THINK about actually putting one of them into her mouth...I ended up quietly stuffing over half of them into my napkin and then into the diaper bag...so that we wouldn't offend the waiter who had gone to so much trouble to get the shrimp in the first place.. And, of course her little brother got into the act once we were back in our room...He chased her around with one of the shrimp while making monster noises...It was a memory in the making....lol Lynn |

Tril,
The lobster was only the tail...so I guess that doesn't qualify as whole.. I too like my fish that way....Back when the older kids were little we used to go camping alongside a river...breakfast was always whatever fish MOM caught that morning...nothing like fresh river trout cooked over a campfire......yummy.. I know for the most part Chinese food is out of the picture when it comes to the induction faze of the diet but I was wondering if anyone knows if egg drop soup is allowed since it is mostly a soup and egg whites????? My daughter whom is Chinese loves to go out and eat Chinese food is missing being able to do so.

When I end up with no choice but Chinese (with a group, for instance) I order the same thing every time... steamed chicken with mixed vegetables, no sauce. That's what you'll get... just plain chicken meat and plain veggies. If you eat soy (I don't) you can put soy sauce on it. It's not the most exciting meal.. but it works. You can stay on plan and not go hungry. It usually comes in a small steamer basket, which makes it a little more special. LOL

Indeed, it's the cornstarch in almost every veggie dish, and the sugar in the teriyaki dishes that hurt! I thought, "Hey, beef and broccoli, how bad can THAT be?" and it was 8 grams (Panda Express) for a small serving. Not the worst, but skip it if you can while on Induction.
Use the Internet to Google dishes...add the word "nutrition" and you will get various sites for some consensus. My best to you...Toni |
