Your hormonal issues are making it very difficult for you to lose weight. Low carb is the best plan for someone with your conditions. Mayonaise isn't bad... used in moderation it can be a part of your plan.
How many carbs are you eating? Are the majority of your carbs coming from fresh vegetables? Are those carbs spread out over the course of the day? Are you exercising? Are you drinking 64 oz of plain water every single day? Are you eating protein with every meal and snack? Read everything you can find about insulin, insulin resistance, metabolic disorder, syndrome X, blood glucose... learn all you can about how you became a diabetic. It will convince you that YOU must control your carb intake in order to control your disease. |

I am so furious and frustrated tonight at this diet. As far as I am concerend and after 3 months of this Atkins diet and reading the book as well I have found over the last month or so that I am not so successful with my weight loss. I keep gaining and losing the same weight now for awhile. Let me add that I did nothing to gain the weight. I did not eat over the 20 carbs a day, I did not eat bad carbs, and I do exercise. I have over 200 pounds to lose

Blue... great response!
The only OTHER suggestion I could make is to check your caloric intake. It's completely possible to eat 20 g of carb per day and still be overeating. Overeating is overeating, and will cause a wt gain. EVEN when the carbs are "just right". There are several really good online resources... fitday is one example. Try keeping track for a few days.... see how many calories you're eating. Have you ever had your thyroid checked? Are you diabetic? PCOS? Tril |

Tril , I think you have a point. I am Diabetic, but I am not quite sure why that would make you gain or lose weight over and over. Do you know why by chance? Plus I do have P.C.O.S. Again I am not sure why that would affect me as well, but I am new to the Diagnosis.
BlueHex- Thanks so much for the advice. I will try these new things. One of the things I have done since yesterday was cut out mayonaise. I was using as much as I wanted because it said you could use it on induction. Perhaps I was using to much??? I thought there was no such thing when it came to induction because I do not remember reading anywhere in the book that said you had to limit your Mayo. ![]() ![]() SnicksD |

You mentioned you have lost 30+ pounds in about 3 months. Do you realize that is 30% of a goal of 100 pounds lost? That is a LOT! That is over 2 pounds per week as an average (but NOT linear.) I am guessing you lost a lot at first and now are wiggling around a weight, up a little, back to the weight, etc.
It is VERY frustrating. After losing a chunk of weight at first, my loss slowed way down. It was not unusual for me to go 19 days wiggling around an area; then I would drop a pound in 2 days, and then another a few days later, then go 12 more days (wiggling) before a full pound was gone, then only 4, etc. The closer I got to goal, the harder it was. It did come off eventually! I still have 4.6 pounds to go (for me that is still 12% of my original goal!) but I only lose about 1/2 lb. per week now and that's OK!! How long has it been since you lost ONE FULL POUND and not returned to it? That's how I counted...the number of days it took for the scale not to register that weight again. For example I have been as low as 132 but the last weight I have NOT returned to recently is 135. As long as the wiggle is under that, I am on the right track! One day it will be 134 I don't hit on my wiggle, etc. My best...good luck in finding a solution! Toni |
