Default Breath mints....
Has anyone had a bad taste in their mouth while on Induction? What kind of peppermints or gum have you used??

That taste/odor is caused by ketones. They are excreted when you breathe out... and when you urinate. There are a few things you can do to minimize it. You could also exercise more... that would use up more ketones so there would be less to excrete. Avoid high fat snacks and meals because that fat will be metabolized... producing lots of ketones, much of those you won't need unless you increase your activity substantially. Some people suggest chewing on fresh parsley. I don't know if that works or not. Remember, the odor is in your breath, not in your mouth... so toothpaste, mouth wash, gum, mints, etc may cover the odor while it's in your mouth, but once it's gone and you breathe out, the odor/taste will still be there.

This eventually goes away... as you move up the carb ladder in OWL you will reduce dietary fat and produce fewer ketones. In Pre-Maintenance you will move out of ketosis and it will go away completely.

So what kind of gum is ok? The sugar free has sugar alcohol in it. Is that ok? 1 sugar alcohol per piece.
