I was reading the labels on my supplements. My calcium tablets contain cornstarch and maltodextrin, and my grape seed extract contains rice flour.
I am on the Induction phase, and wonder if I should stop taking the supplements (my doctor insists on the calcium), or if I can take them and estimate them at a gram each. I do know that, by the book, no cornstarch or maltodextrin is permitted. I'm just afraid to eliminate the supplements. I am looking for 0 carb alternatives. This is my first post here. I have read a lot of the information here, and it is a gold mine! Glad I found you. ![]() |

You know... there can't be much cornstarch or maltodextrin in one vitamin tablet. I would say, take them with a meal to reduce any insulin "response" to them and when they're gone, look for supplements without added starches. You could drive yourself NUTS counting miniscule carbohydrate grams... but you don't need to.

oceandiva, I am taking grape seed extract that has rice flour in it. So far I am staying in ketosis and losing.
But the idea of the rice flour bothers me enough that I am not going to buy more when this bottle is empty. Also, if I start to stall, I will cut it out entirely. I take grapeseed extract and tumeric for their tumor fighting properties as I have had several skin cancers removed. So I really hate to stop taking them unless it is essential. |
