I'm past induction..
How annoying is it when there is no "Nutritional Value" information on a product? I wanted to find out the fats/carbs/protein etc of Gilberts/Blooms Viennas. For some reason, I cannot link to the product, I keep getting a forum error In this instance I have asked the company several times to give up the nutritional values for the product, but they simply won't respond Do you think I am ok eating these on a Atkins diet? Many thanks for reading, and your help |

ugh.. still wont let me post the individual links...
If you have the time... Google: greatfood It is second on the search results (Great Food : Kosher, Halal and Traditional Foods) Click on "Gilberts" in the middle of the page, and then "Gilbert & Bloom's - Meat and Sausages" again, in the middle of the page. The product in question is 12 items down "Large Viennas - 360 grams - A traditional cooked beef sausage. Usaully served hot by placing in boiling water and allowed to stand for 10 minutes. Can be eated cold straight from the pack." The ingredients are: Ingredients: Beef, Water, Potato Starch, Salt, Stabilisers (E452, E450), Acidulant (E575), Dextrose, White Pepper, Flavouring Preparation (Spice and Herb Extract), Colour (E129), Preservative (E250). Thanks for reading |

You need 10 posts (if I remember that right) before you can post a link.
I looked them up... and found this for the large viennas: Large Viennas - 360 grams Ingredients: Beef, Water, Potato Starch, Salt, Stabilisers (E452, E450), Acidulant (E575), Dextrose, White Pepper, Flavouring Preparation (Spice and Herb Extract), Colour (E129), Preservative (E250). Since the first ingredient is beef, that means they're MOSTLY beef... however, the potato starch and dextrose (sugar) means these viennas have carbs. We can't tell how much, but they are certainly NOT a free protein choice. I would use them as a once in a while treat... not a daily or even weekly indulgence. You just don't know how many carbs they are. Maybe later in OWL or maintenance you could get away with not knowing. But I would never risk it during Induction. Here's a link to the home page for this company: http://www.greatfood.org.uk/ |

Hi guys.
I got the information direct from Gilberts / Blooms They say that the nutritional value is: Energy 944kJ / 240 Kcal per 100g Protein 13.7g Fat 19.3g Carbohydrate 2.1g All per 100g So, with these figures (considering that a pack of viennas containing roughly 6 viennas is 360g), how do you place their potential in an Atkins diet? Many thanks for your help thus far ![]() |

"Carbohydrate 2.1g
All per 100g So, with these figures (considering that a pack of viennas containing roughly 6 viennas is 360g)..." Ok, let's figure out what each one would be. 360 divided by 6 is 60g each (weight). 100g = 2.1 g carb 60g would be 60% of 2.1... or 1.26 g carb each. For a serving, let's make it easy and say 2 viennas... for 2.5 g carb. How much to you love them? LOL For me, 2.5 g of carb on a PROTEIN choice is much too "expensive". Since on Induction you only have 5 to 8 g to play with after the veggie carbs... I wouldn't want use about half them on protein, ya know? I'd rather spend those precious carbs on cream... or cheese... or salad dressing. But that's me. Maybe you like these sausages enough to give up something else. Tril |
