Default How do you handle the holidays?
Do you have low carb recipes for the desserts and things we love during Thanksgiving and Christmas?

I'm pretty sure my family is going to Ryan's Restaurant for Thanksgiving. We take my Mom there because she is in a nursing home. I'm planning to have lots of vegies and meat. They do have sugar free deserts and I think even sugar free whipped topping. So I'm not too worried that I'll blow it there.

I have 5 boys and they'll want cookies and soon the house will be full of Halloween candy.

What do you do to get through all the temptations?

Same thing I do day in and day out... I say no to myself. Those are not "Tril-food" and I simply don't get the choice to eat the treats. If I decide that I will have something very very special (like a kind of fudge that only my mom makes... and only once a year) I will have NO MORE than 3 bites. The first bite is heavenly... the second is good... the 3rd satisfies... anything after that and I'm just eating it cuz it's good and I've given myself permission. Try the 3-bite rule if you decide to indulge. It really does help limit the damage.

I love food! Seriously, all of it. The good thing about Atkins is that once you've been on Atkins for a week or two, the cravings go away mostly, and your appetite goes away too, it has to do with blood sugar and Glycogen and insulin and all that jazz, but really its nice not to be piggin out on chips and chocolate anymore. It really made me feel like I had no self control with eating bc I guess I have a carb sensitivity.
