No... there's so much MORE to this than just the carb count. One person could lose having 60g a day, another 100g a day. There's no magic number for everyone... only YOUR PERSONAL magic number. That's the purpose of OWL/Phase 2. To find your carb limit for losing. You slowly add in carbs from the Carb Ladder, monitoring your weight loss as you go. You HAVE to be very diligent about counting carbs during this time... you can't guesstimate, you have to know. But once you know your number, all you do is stay 5 carbs under that and you'll continue to lose. For a while. Eventually it will "balance" and you will need to reduce the carbs/amount of food your eating to continue downward. You could also ADD exercise to allow you to eat a bit more and still lose.
There are no easy answers here. It's work. It takes effort. In the beginning it feels so easy... just follow the food list and the weight comes off. I think that's why a LOT of people just stay on Induction... it's work to figure it out in OWL. It's SO important for long term success, though... it's the key, really. If you want to keep it off you have to do OWL correctly. Just like, if you want to switch your body to burning ketones, you have to do it right. A mad rush to goal weight is seldom a goal you get to keep. Read any diet forum on the web... there are thousands of posts similar to this... "The moment I reached goal I started regaining the weight." I always want to ask, "What did you do to prepare yourself for staying at goal?" Most of the time, you can tell it was nothing. All of the time and effort was spent on losing... nothing done to learn how to maintain. I know, I've done it both ways. ![]() So quit worrying so much about how many pounds you can lose per week if you go to OWL. You'll have to do it to see how YOUR body will respond. You're only in week 3... you can continue in Induction for a while longer if you want. The book suggests no longer than half of your weight loss goal. At that point you can transition into OWL. 2 weeks is the minimum, not the maximum, that someone can do Induction. What's your goal? How much do you want to lose? How much have you lost? Tril |

Then you'd be okay to stay on Induction level for another 10# or so. Some people even go closer to goal before reintroducing carbs. I'm not sure that's necessary or even advisable. If you have a history of losing/regaining it might be in your best interest to take more time to lose the weight and LEARN while you're doing it. Make THIS the last time. You'll still lose in OWL (that's why it's called Ongoing Weight Loss)... and you'll still have stalls and plateaus if you stay on Induction. When you start OWL is up to you. Read up on it and then decide. Oh... and for what it's worth, you can always drop back down now and then. I have days when I have NO hunger at all so I take advantage of them... and I have days when I'm hungry all day long so that's when I have the most variety/carbs. Trying to eat like a "normal" person and that means in response to my hunger... not my emotions.
