I was doing so good until today. I had lost almost 5 pounds.
Today I went to a friends house and ate some noodles, some chicken and some candies. I didn't eat a whole lot but I ate quite a few. I am so mad at myself now. Anyway, Lesson learned. My second week (I should count it as first again !!)starts tomorrow. I am cutting out the Atkins bars this time. |

Ask yourself why you did it?
Were you hungry? (next time bring protein snacks) Were you missing the naughty treats? (do self-talk and re-focus) Did you want to sabotage your success (harder to deal with but worth the time spent on self discovery). Have no fear. Get back on induction and keep your eye on the ball. 8) |

Personally... I don't consider a cheat any reason to "start over" at all. If you don't plan to "end" eating this way some day then there really is no starting over... ya know? Just keep going. If you get cravings back from something you ate or drank, deal with them by cutting back to Induction levels (and Induction only foods) for as many days as it takes to rid yourself of the cravings. Then just keep going. If you don't "stop" then you never "start over". Weight loss is like a road trip... occassionally you'll stop along the way and then keep going. But you don't go home and start over. You just keep going.

Well... since Induction is a minumum of 14 days but can be as long as you want it to be... I would just keep going and not start over at day one. You probably won't lose as much in Induction (because of the ice cream) as you would have otherwise, but it really won't make all that much difference in the long run, ya know? If you reach 14 days and your appetite is diminished, your cravings are gone, you know you're in ketosis... then move on to OWL, or not, the choice is yours. If you reach 14 days and you don't feel totally into ketosis or the cravings are still bothering you.. stick to Induction for a few more days... or weeks... again, up to you. But I wouldn't go back to day one for one scoop of ice cream. If you fell completely off the plan and totally went beserk for days and days, then yes... start over.

i'm no expert, but in your situation i would react by staying on induction for however long i thought i needed to be in induction. obviously you want to get back into ketosis (if you are no longer burning fat after the ice cream treat). or as tril said, until the cravings are gone.
ice cream is one of my favorite things in the world. that and pasta. i know you are supposed to lose the cravings, and ignore them when they pop up instead of substituting something for them that's induction approved, but sometimes i just need a bite. i do give into my sweet tooth, but not with stuff i really love like ice cream. i have some cream cheese coulds in the freezer. i did the math and can have 6 of them to equal 1 carb. i don't need 6 tho, because they are very cold and hit the sweet spot pretty quickly. be aware that not everyone will react to this method in the same way, which is why it's advised to just ignore the craving until it goes away. if you give in, you could be setting yourself up for MORE and stronger cravings, for a longer period of time. only you can tell how feeding the sweet tooth with an approved substitute will direct you. with me, i'm not so inclined to reach for the ice cream or a candy bar or whatever else. |
