No... not necessarily. You can be in ketosis because you're not eating carbs, but you could still be eating TOO MUCH protein and fat and therefore, not be losing weight. You could, in fact, gain weight. Ketosis only means you're burning fat for energy... the fatty acids are converted to ketones which your muscles can use for energy. The fatty acids come from dietary fat (the fat you're eating) and/or from adipose tissue (the fat on and in your body). Ketosis is a metabolic state... it doesn't mean your body is living off its own fat.

thanks 4 reply. u replied 2 my last post about hitting a plateau. i have been the same wt 4 a month. i only eat about 10 gr of carbs. could this be the prob. should i eat at least 20. i am still in induction because of plateau. started at 142. now 132. i exercise 1 hr a day five days a w. please help!

If you're willing and really want an answer that could help, post a detailed food diary of everything you eat and drink for a couple of days. Give portions sizes... weigh and measure what you're eating, don't guess. Then we'll need to know if you're m/f and things like age, medications, metabolic issues (thyroid/diabetes), etc. Without this info any suggestions would just be a shot in the dark.
