Default nothing but steak for 30 days?
Hi,

i been doing the atkins diet for 40 days or so and am down 25 lbs...problem is that i cheated 4 days during it....just about every 10th day or so i cheated and went overboard but i feel that it didnt put weight on and my body jumps into ketosis fast after it. Im 21/m and jog 3 days a week 2 miles each day and am pretty active with work etc.

Any ways...i need to lose 25 more lbs by July 5th for a biggest loser bet with buddies and side bets etc. (pretty high stakes also)

Anyways, i love eating steak with balsamic vinegar and i havent got sick of them. Im sick of baccon/hot dogs/chicken.

Will it work if i just eat steaks...i know it can cost me some money but thats ok. An im obviously gonna continue to drink a ton of water and exercise.

Balsamic vinegar isn't allowed. I don't know if it will win you your bet but it will affect your health. Your body isn't built for that.

hmm...keep an eye on your uric acid levels (blood tests with your doc). In theory, its OK to eat steak everyday just make sure that you are eating enough veggies and varying the other meals. That is, I would not recommend eating steak for brekkie, lunch and dinner. Rather, eat a steak every day for lunch and then eggs for brekkie and salmon and salad for dinner.

Good luck with the bet. 8)

You need your vegtables. You can't just eat meat I think that would be dangerous but bumping your question up for someone with more knowledge than me can answer your question.

wow - check and mate, bluehex. 8)

I do think that if you want to lose weight in a crash diet scenario for 30 days you SHOULD NOT do a "high fat, zero carb steak" diet, not least because of the potential damage to your kidneys.

Rather, you could follow Beyonce and do the maple syrup diet, which is water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. You WILL gain back the weight and feel crap -- as she did -- but you will have won your bet, which seems to be more important than your health. Sad.

I kinda feel sorry for you. Your last few posts have seemed a tad desperate.

I try not to be harsh with people on this forum but I agree with bluehex and wheresmycoat.

It makes it very hard for people that are following the diet the way it should be to beat off all the bad press from the people like you who give it a bad name!!!

Please do your research! This is a weigh of life, not a quick fix! And trying to lose 25 lbs in less than a month is most likely beyond doable so you just set your self up for failure anyway!

Read Up!!!!

I personally am still learning. And you are getting help. But noone here can seriously say yes, eating zero carbs and a lot of fat is healthy. It's not doable to lose that amount on atkins in that time. If you are serious about atkins, read the book and research it and do it properly. If you do decide to go that route you will find a LOT of help and support here, I know I have. But making personal comments about people who find this forum helpful isn't the way to go.

I was doing research on the lowcarb diet because I am always trying to find an Advantage in this way of eating. Right now what I am doing with the New Atkins diet is working but I know all diets have its limits and sometimes U may have to experiment and change things up..Which I have done already several times within the past 3 months of lowcarb dieting.
Hope this helps. Here are 2 other diets that does support eating meats and eggs only and from what I read it works very fast ..One is the Stillman's diet( one of the first very low or no carb diet) and the 2nd one is the Original Atkins diet

hey btodd, sorry if you got your feelings hurt but i think your expectation that people in this forum should invest their time to help you crash diet for a bet is utterly misguided.

If you are serious about the diet, then use this forum for advice and support. As you are clearly not following the Atkins diet and seem to be against investing even 10 minutes of time on Atkins' website (this is free, btw) to get a feel for the basics, then you are wasting a perfectly good post/thread.

Seems to me as you have done your "diet" for 40 days with a 25 pound weight loss, you really don't need our help at all to continue. You seem to be doing an excellent job at messing up your body on your own.

Good luck on your bet. Hope it was worth it.

*high-fives BlueHex*

Excellent Response.

You have such an excellent way with words. Is it true that English is not your first language? Shocking. 8)

I think that people who have replied to you have done so with concern for your health and lack of knowledge. It is always hard on a forum to 'hear' the tone of voice that a reply is written in. Number one, no one wants to see you ill and two, no one wants to hear this way of eating misrepresented.

If you are overweight, it is great to try to lose it.

If you are trying to lose weight, do so safely and consider it to be a long term objective.

If you are trying short term, remember it may all come back with a vengeance and you could cause yourself damage.

Read about Atkins...it doesn't take long. Stick to induction of 20g carbs daily using them for fruit/veg as much as possible, drink water to keep flushed out and look after yourself.

Hoping you stay well.

Like others have said, we are willing to help you but you have to help yourself first. People on this forum take this way of eating seriously (as they should) and want to make sure that if people are a part of this forum that they are following it correctly and they are going to be the kind of member we want to represent us.

We want you to be happy, healthy, and also informed!!!! We have all done our research, and even if you haven't read the book or don't plan on it (which I would highly recommend doing, as there is so much information you learn by reading it) you need to at least need to read other posts and stickies on this forum.

Good Luck in your success, however you need to really do your research!!!! If you do, you will get much more positive feedback and support from this group, and it will be genuine!!!
