Default New Member - Starting Atkins....a good start??
Hi

I have officially started atkins diet today. I am 20 years of age(male) and am the kind of guy who eats alot from outside(fastfood/Resturants). I only recently heard about atkins, and thought i might give it a shot since i tend to eat alot of fatty/protien foods :P. Since alot of people are far more experianced than me in this topic, i am just curious if this a good way to start:

Morning -

1x Bottle of Water - 500ml
2x Scrambled Eggs
1 Whole Meal Brown bread Toast + Omega 3 Margarine Spread

Afternoon -

- Tandoori Chicken
- Lamb Chops cooked in Olive Oil
- 3x Sheesh Kebabs (grilled)
- 1x 500ml water

Evening -

Probably anything from Sheesh Kebabs to Mixed Donner meat.
-1x 500 ml water

I tend to work out in the evening (weights ,cardio).

I am currently 182lb and 5ft6inch and want to slim down to around 140lb. I wanna look good for my brothers wedding(which is in a month and a half) and wanna drop weight fast, is this the way to go? If not, please advice me

First thing, no bread in any form on induction.

Second, I don't see any vegetables.

Third, 1.5 liters is not enough. 1.5 liters is only about 45 or so ounces. You will probably need to drink around 60 plus ounces a day.

Working out is a good idea, keep that up.

I'm not familiar enough with these dishes to estimate a carb count.

My advice is to read the book. Dr Atkins new diet revolution, version 4 or lower. If you cannot do this, at the bare minimum read the sticky notes rules of induction and acceptable food list, then read the faqs

The total amount of carbs (excluding the bread) comes upto 2grams. I manage to get a hold of the Atkins diet revolution and states that a person should have 20grams of carbs atleast?

I was going to add veggies, but am still reading the Atkins book and points out some veggies are not recommended, aint sure, gotta double check that.

I manage to get a hold of the Atkins diet revolution and states that a person should have 20grams of carbs atleast? Correct. Rule 2. Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, at least 12 – 15 grams of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. (see Acceptable Foods).

I was going to add veggies, but am still reading the Atkins book and points out some veggies are not recommended, aint sure, gotta double check that. Rule of thumb is 3 cubs of salad type vegetables from the acceptable food list OR 2 cups of salad type and 1 cup of other vegetbales from the acceptable food list per day.

The bread thing is from rule 3.

The rules are in the book and also posted here for reference.[/quote]

you should check atkins.com and read the rules of induction. There's lots of information there.
