Default If The Music Artist Isn't Such A Great Person, Do You Still Listen To His/Her Music?
Some people refuse to listen songs created by the dirtbags in society. A friend of mine refuses to listen to Chris Brown. And who can blame her?

However, even if the singer isn't the greatest person in the world, I'll still listen to his or her songs, provided that I like them.

How about you?

I don't like listening to music artists that I don't like even if I enjoy their music. I don't feel like accepting their emotions and beliefs that I disagree with into my life through their music.

It would depend on whether I heard the music first before finding out they were a dirt bag

The same applies if they are just weird. For example Lady Gaga I saw or heard about before hearing her music. I don't like much current music so I tend to hear about artists before hearing their music.

I am an old fart so feel free to dismiss my opinion

I like Chris Brown's music. Too bad the guy is a dirtbag who hits women.

great person" depends on what one values is. if you disagree with their politics, way of life, etc it is your personal choice to look the other way,but we don't know these entertainers as genuine persons. I remember back in 1980s when President Reagan wanted to use a song by Bruce Springsteen for his reelection bid and Springsteen said no to him. People on both sides of the campaign credited Springsteen for his resilience to stand up for his music while the others spoke about his audacity to stand up to the president... but did it show us who Springsteen was as a person? who knows...

This is a good question.

My decision to listen to certain music can be impacted by who the artist is. Not too often though, because usually I don't get that far; I often just pick random music from random people to listen to.

I seldom bother to look into the private lives of musicians. I'd be more likely to consider the credentials of a tradesman that I intended to allow into my home.

You mean "Born in the USA"?

I think Reagan's peoples completely misinterpreted that song.

It doesn't bother me much. Maybe it should, it's an interesting question, but like Dundee said, I don't pay a ton of attention to the private lives of celebrities. I just listen to the radio and pick out songs I like.
