I'm curious if it's common for two people to share a single imagery 'journey.' I see a counselor for personal issues, and I chose a New Age hypnotherapist so that she'd understand my spiritual 'take' on things. It's working quite well.
When she first started hypnotizing/relaxing me and taking me on guided imagery, I was a reluctant to go through a particular door, on the other side of which she had instructed me Mother would be waiting to speak with me. Mother is a big issue for me, so I wasn't enthusiastic at all. Anyway, to reassure me, my counselor assured me that she 'would be right there with me.' She had relaxed as she talked me down, and had her eyes closed as she gave me instruction. Being naive, I took her literally, and simply ASSUMED that she would enter that doorway with me, and see whatever I saw on the other side. And she did. She not only saw Mother, she felt the icy dead cold of that sterile white room. When we spoke of it afterwards, she was honestly amazed that she had seen what I saw. So what I'm wondering is this: Is is unusual for two people to join on a single imagery journey? |
