Is it a worthwhile exercise to do regression, to better understand past lives?
Just after a bit of feed back, some interesting points floating around the forums about heading into the future, being more focussed on how things are now, not overly sure if going back into past lives is a worthwhile idea..... unless of course it is just for something interesting to do..... Do people want to know what they were back then, and what things have influenced their lives now? I'm just interested to find out why ........ Blessings Papa Bear |

Doing past life regression some do become aware of what challenges they faced. For some of those people those issues still arise to the surface. For reason we aren't aware of we are scared of heights, water, dark places. We ask why? Well, if you have lived it in a past life in may creep back up on you. Others may say we are of spirit and why would our spirit bring those things back up again into our new body. Great question?? Why??
Aren't we an everlasting spirit that is here to learn no matter where we go. If it takes looking into avoiding the past failures and move on to better approaches aren't we safer, more knowledgeable, and better understanding of our life force. What is our purpose of being here and now and can it be understood better by looking back or forward? This to which the only answer will come from your higher self. Love and blessings |

I believe that understanding the lives we have lived, if it is something of interested to the person, is a perfectly sound thing to do, I think regression into past lives is different to regression into the past.
Regression into a past life as I said is to gain knowledge understanding awareness, Regression into the past tends to be traumatic events, regrets etc etc, in this life you are living now, and I think it is that you have to move on from and have a renewal and control and look to the furture. Thats just my take on it, fab topic once again PapaB, is past lives something you find of interest to yourself? |

I also agree that it can be very healing and sometimes not so nice. As long as you are prepared for things that may come up, you'll be fine.
For me, fear of water. I have learned about a few lives where I have drown, but it's not the key yet. I have not yet found the life to release my fear of water. I did release some issues with my mother from a past life and it helped me for what I now have to face in this one. It actually showed me taking care of my mother because my father had died. My regression was in 2006. My real father in this life died in 2008 and guess what I'm doing.... lol taking care of my mother ![]() |

Oh, I too believe it can be really beneficial to who you are as a person now. I have only done one successful regression and found out that I was a dress model in a past life. I was extremely tall and thin and upon my first impression thought I was kind of pretty but then learned that I was also very arrogant and put people down who were not what we call appealing. I even snubbed the dress maker that I was working with. When I came back out of the meditation, I realized that I didnt like the person I was and now know my issues with weight are probably a lesson I am learning from that past life. I am also very short too ha ha...5' 1".

Those were very revealing thoughts and opinions, all extremely well said.
Totally agree with you all, my life is one of continuous learning and understanding, if it helps in my development of me being me, then to have that insight could be a magical experience....sorry, will be a magical experience. And so looking forward to discounted therapy sessions PM........ what a great way to offer healing too. Again , great comments, thankyou all, awesome. Papa Bear |

Interesting post Papa Bear. I can speak from two viewpoints. One from having hypnotized a couple of friends myself and two sessions where I paid a hypnotherapist (Head of a Past Life Regression group) to regress me.
In both cases I was involved out of curiosity rather than any deep search for meaning in my life. But, I would say, definitely go pro if you are going to get hypnotized. Things can come up that an amateur like myself might not be expecting as did with one of my friends. One was no problem, he went back to the 1800s as a Gold Miner during the California Gold Rush. He led an uneventful life except with the death of his daughter and wife in that time period in a fire. That was traumatic for him and he expressed that loss with passion but I was able to get him through it without any problem. The second was when I was regressing a female friend of mine. She was going back in time in this life and I didn't specify to remember only good things. When she reached the age of 3, she became slightly hysterical as she explained how her uncle was sexually molesting her. She immediately woke up from the session, grabbed a cigarette and lit it up, and stared at me. I asked if she was alright to which she replied yes but you could see that was something she had hidden away in her mind and had now come out. Bottom line, go professional. From my own two sessions (expensive at $160 each), I learned I was an Indian Princess (sort of) in one life and my second one was fun to learn, an executioner in the reign of King Louis XIV in France. Can’t say either has had an impact on me because I was only curious so was not trying to associate a past life with my current one. However, I do wonder what karma I built up as I spent that lifetime executing people. There is some theory that people being age regressed to a past life are really just making up those lives. Makes me wonder why I couldn’t come up with something better than a person who lobbed off heads. |

In my experience Past Life regression works wonders, I think it really helps people come to terms with certain life quirks and understand that there really is some kind of life outside of their own little bubble (;
I do think that it has helped me in the sense that because of it I have been able to ascertain some kind of clarity on the purpose and meaning behind certain relationships of mine, whether it be family or friends I understand the true meaning of connection better this way. I have always wanted to know what kind of life I would leave behind for my future self in this one, and I must say I don't really like the outcome so far. We do all we can to lift ourselves up though and I would be very proud of the progress I've made in my life in comparison to the rough patches I've been through. Hypnotherapy is a wonderful experience, I enjoy every minute of it because it helps me explore human nature and not just our spiritual nature. In a sense it's a calling for me as well NewDawn! I hope you can find the money and teacher for following through in this wonderful field. I think it helps tremendously for those willing and open to the experience (: |

Makes me wonder why I couldn’t come up with something better than a person who lobbed off heads. and while I don't believe the Divine Spirit would show us past lives as figurative videos to solve our problems, it is another theory. I have not yet been regressed, im a little frightened, i dont know why.
But as i mentioned in the above post, one of my lives was as a french revolutionary, my wife and children were killed because of who i was,, also i have ties to english and irish lives.... apperently on a soul level i would see a conflict, and decide which team to fight for , so at certain times in history i may be fighting the english, next thing im one of the english... he told me that i although i killed many people my energy was good as i was fighting for what i believed was right and or the underdog. Which is something i still do in this lifetime, i fight for the underdog, although those tendancies are still there they are not as strong as i get older. Supposedly this is my first female life, and i always died young and my family persecuted at times for my actions.. I have a fear of heights too and without mentioning that , he saw a lifetime when i was walking on the cliffs and just slipped... i am slowly getting better with heights too but it still petrifies me at times. |

Hi PapaBear,
I have had a few experiences with past life regression, but two of them happened when I was not really trying...which may sound odd. The first time, I was wide awake, but lying in bed in a motel room getting ready to get up for the morning. I "out of the blue" heard very clearly in my head, as if someone else was speaking to me, the name "Sarah Gwynn Mills". I remember being incredulous, astounded and more than a little freaked out! Later that morning, i took my two young children and walked about 1/2 mile, seeing an old cemetery with just about 20-30 stones, I went about checking the names. There several with the surname Mills, though I saw no mention of "Sarah". I know this is getting a bit long...but what I want to relay is that somehow I just KNEW that I had been her. I got the sense that she was a suicide and so was not buried there with the rest, but elsewhere...it was very strange. Without getting into the other two instances, I guess I would say that I feel I may have gained some insight into poor choices of the past(for me, mostly self pity and drama). In this life I have had much of the same and only now, at 45 have I begun to truly get a handle on being in the NOW and not taking on other people's "stuff". I believe that this has been a lesson that has taken lifetimes already, so I'm really working on it now ![]() I hope that this is not too convoluted a post and that you gain some insight yourself. Blessings, eyesee |

Eyesee......convoluted?/ not at all, in fact I would have been more than interested to hear more of your experiences.
My interest in regression is purely to give me an understanding of my Now, I am not too sure if any of my past lives have a bearing on what my thoughts etc in my present, but I would like to have a looksee anyways. And with all things that spark an interest with me, it is that little piece of "fact" or proof that keeps me driven.....yet the more I see, the more I need to know.....I have a slightly impatient streak when it comes to learning and knowing more......but I get snippets of insight here and there, just enough to keep me where I need to be at this stage. Blessings be to you Eyesee, today and every day. Papa Bear |
