Default As it turns out...
... crime does happen in small towns.

I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. Can't pinpoint the reason, but it happens now & then. I said to myself, hell, may as well make a night out of it. So I drove to a little convenience store for some snacks & a soda. I go in, pay for my stuff, & start walking back to my truck. I kinda saw the guy out of my right peripheral, but didn't bother with it until I felt what felt oddly like a gun sticking into my kidney. Now, I've had guns pulled on me before... these things are not as difficult to diffuse as one may believe. Obviously, the guy wanted money. I peeked over at him, & it turns out, I know the guy. Not well, but I do know him, & last we spoke we were on fairly decent terms. So he then recognizes me (my hair is a bit longer than the last time I saw him), kinda puts on a surprised face, then goes right back to demanding my money. I dislodge myself (at this point, I know he's not going to shoot me) & turn to him, give him a sad smile & say "(his name), were you really going to shoot me for three dollars?" I actually had about $50, but if he's gonna bluff me, I'm gonna bluff him too. So he gets frustrated, lowers his gun, & asks me if he can borrow some money. I ask him, why didn't you just say that from the start? So we actually start having a conversation & a few seconds into it, I ask him if I can hold his gun. Like an idiot, he hands it to me, & that's when I crack him eight or nine good times on his head. This marks the second time in my life I've ever actually pistolwhipped someone.

Well, it turns out the cashier inside the store had seen him try to rob me & called the police. So the cops show up after I drop the gun, & as luck would have it, they were two good friends of mine. They saw him laying next to his gun, half-conscious, & the cashier runs out of the store demanding that the guy be arrested. They ask me what happened, & as someone who knows a thing or two about sliding out of sticky situation, I say the guy tripped over the curb & I'm not interested in pressing charges. They get it... less paperwork for them, & I can go about my business. He got arrested anyway, b'cause he's a convicted felon & was carrying a gun. I gave a quick statement, gave them my information, went home, played Fallout on my Xbox for about an hour, & slept like a baby.

If the robbers don't kill you, that soda definitely will!

Damn...that guy was pretty stupid. I guess there's no help for some idiots.

WOW. Thank God or whatever.

What gets me is that you were able to sleep.
I think my mind would have been racing for awhile, but then again...maybe something like that just exhausts you.

I've heard this exact story before. Exact same details. I think Zane has too.
