Default I am probably ganna get bashed but I have to tell ya all
I hate to...I have had this on my mind for about 3 months now and finally yesterday when my hubby decided to tell me when I got home from my parents house that he missed work and got fired I came to the conclusion I cannot afford 2 dogs I hate to but I am rehoming Logan, I have a lady that might want him so I am just going to get him a good home and pray because I don't know now where our food is ganna come from, Goren has to stay with us, he has to many health issues with allergies but Logan at least has none. I am going to miss him so bad but I know its best for him or we are all going to suffer. I have not been able to give him the attention I want either because he is to hyper to be around the baby unless on a walk so unlike Goren who can come in and be around Katie Logan is stuck outside unless we are going on a walk. I hope to in the FAR future get another dog but I think we are going to stay a 1 dog household from now on, maybe foster a dog sometimes but all in all I don't think we can financially handle 2 dogs. I am ganna miss you buddy and hope that whoever becomes your new owner wont fall out of touch.

Ellie .. I know what you're going through. Check with your local ASPCA or Humane Society. Sometimes there are programs that can help you get by on dog food & such. Check with local rescues too. They may be able to help. If its just the food situation, check all resources. If you'd like .. PM me & i'll see what I can do.

So sorry to hear what you are going through. The situation sucks but you have take care of that baby first and foremost. Her well being is most important. I'm sure you will find him the right home. Keep us posted and let us know when he finds his new home and how he is settling in. By the way just a thought. Maybe have them sign a contract stating if they can't keep him for any reason they bring him back to you. That way you can ensure he doesn't end up in a shelter. I'd snatch him up in a heartbeat if I could. He sure is a beautiful pooch!

are both of you out of work? Tough times, for sure. However, I don't think that feeding one less dog is going to be a huge savings. I am feeding 6 on about 120 a month. And there are even cheaper foods out there, than what I am doing.
Don't mean to say that rehoming is a bad idea when it ends up helping you and the dog.. but it won't save you as much as you might think in the bills department.

thanks guys

Molly_and_diesel's_mommy, I have looked (not resently but over the years when I have rescued some pretty bad off pups out of bad situations) but not found any help, here he just also doesn't get the attention I want him to have so overall its not just food, I wish it was just food.

that is a good idea SBTlove, I think I will do that, I just don't want him to end up being put down and me not knowing, I have not heard of anyone fighting dogs out here (I am sure they do but since its not a big city I know the numbers are far less than most people deal with) I just don't want him to suffer, I would rather him be in a home than out in the yard like he is now also

I am a stay at home mom, so yes we are both out of work now, We are very lucky to not pay for the house bills aside from water/sewer/trash, my parents own this house so we will at least keep a roof over our heads.

also it will save a lot since he is currently on a raw diet, I don't feel comfortable swapping him to kibble and having him interact with Goren since Kibble is so bad for Goren I would be conserned somehow he would make Goren's super sensitive system go out of wack again, I want to get Logan neutered also, but that being over $200 if I kept him, there is just no way.

Ellie I wish I could help you out. D: I really do. I know what its like to be at the bottom of the pit (Husband works and we are still floating down there). I hope you find Logan good home and that he gets well taken care of.

I'm sorry, but did you miss this or not understand the bold parts???

Sorry to hear this Elliehanna, and I wish you guys nothing but the best. Make sure whoever adopts him keeps in touch with you and maybe you can still visit him. I agree to having them sign something saying if they can't keep him, he comes back to you!

There's gotta be some kind of low cost program to get pit bulls neutered. I just could never in good conscious let a dog go intact because unfortunately you just can't trust people. I paid $73 I couldn't afford to get Spaz neutered (and $20 for a rabies shot) before adopting him out.
I honestly wouldn't have neutered him if I'd kept him, but you just can't trust people... they'll tell you all kinds of stuff you want to hear, but at the end of the day you can't be sure unless you neuter him. Especially with Logan being a fad color like blue brindle. Make the neuter happen for Logan's safety. There has to be a program to get it done cheap... hell if freaking low population Boise has a program to spueter pit bulls for $25 a pop at IHS, I'm sure bigger places have programs like that too.

Your baby does come first and I am sorry you are going through this tuff time. Like Monkeys23 said please get him neutered. Here we have a free "pit bull" neuter/spay program. Contact a rescue and tell them you have a home lined up for him and maybe theywill fund the neuter.

no programs like that out her unfortunatly, the CHEAPEST is $200, so no way in that....BUT I did find someone, AND they live a block from the hubby's parents and will keep in touch and we are able to come over any time, the wife is actually best friends with hubby's parents' neighbor so we will see a lot of Logan still I am sure. He now has a HUGE yard, about 4 times as big as what we have, they took him off raw like I expected but put him on Diamond Natural since I recommended it and its the best we have where we don't have to order or drive 45 minutes to get. I don't think he is going to get into to much trouble, I really wish I had the money to neuter him but am just happy he is in a safe home. It took them over an hour of being with him to decide if they wanted him or not so I don't think they were being too hasty int he decision either

From a little bit of research online, I found many free/low cost clinic for pitbulls and pitbull mixes in Illinois. I have no idea how far you are from them but there are many in different parts of the state.

there are many, but trust me the closest is over 3 hours away, I looked when I 1st got Logan, the part of the state I am in is very unpopulated so I guess they just don't see a reason in having them down here
