This is the trainer
Walter Ward Dog Training Owner's words Shy Dogg with her first trainer. Very very poor decision on my part. Her foundation work is totally HACK and I am no professional dog trainer but after seeing this and doing research I now know............ Yeah hindsight is 20/20!!! I am not a dog trainer by any means and I put my trust into him to help build confidence in my scared rescue pitbull. Shortly after this I stopped training with him and met up with another trainer that "freed" her up more and was more playing with her rather than making her more spooked. She is a great dog and always has been, I just took the wrong road for a bit in the training process............ |

This is my last reply cause i don't really care. the video you showed is a dog that is advanced in bite work. The american bulldog calmed down the min the man came out the suit. that tells me these are more sport dogs than real pp dogs. Meaning they have no civil work. |

If the OP is looking for a trainer that specializes in pp training in the Chicagoland area, this is who I would recommend.http://k9-guardians.com/

The owner of the dog is not a girl. The guy went to walter to train in personal protection. As seen in the video the dog has no drive and basically is a shit dog.
With the approach he was try to see if the dog would work in defense. Poking with the padded stick does not hurt the dog just irritates the hell out if it. Its called a extension of your hand. Yes he used the whip but it was harsh. It lasted 30 second. Walt seen the dog still wouldnt defense up so he stopped. This video was posted due to a personal beef not because the guy thought his dog was being abused |

If you listen to the video the Dogo Argentino is a beginner dog, still in the targeting stage. The Rotti is more advanced, which his excitement can help the Dogo as well. Buuut that's not the main issue. The main issue is that you should never do something like that with a shy dog. You evaluate them before you put your hands on them, any proper PP trainer could see that the dog is not fit for it. All he's doing is pushing the dog over the limits and teaching it that nipping will make the bad things go away. Aka lawsuit, as said above. It looks like you were correct that it's a guy, went back and checked the OP on FB. In PP they should be looking for confident dogs with natural protective instincts, I'm not seeing any of that in this dog. He's just freaked out, and wants it to stop. Any idiot can see that. Also, posting a obedience video shows me nothing about his PP work. |
