It all depends on what you want to do with your dog, and what your dog enjoys... There isn't one registration that covers EVERY sport. They all have different organizations.. some require neutering - through the kennel clubs - and some don't, like agility, weight pull, dock diving, and some rally/ob clubs.

I'd check each org. calendar and see what they offer in your area.
I went with AKC because I show agility and they had the most trials in my area. Seemed kinda silly to join a different one with only 2 or 3 trials a year.

I'm looking at Lewisville Cary and Raleigh for NADAC. I haven't water tested my pup yet besides baths and I haven't seen any dog really like a bath.

Default Performance registration
First off I'd like to state that I have never went through the process of getting a registration performance purposes. And until this year I hadn't owned a dog that hadn't had papers come with it. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is which organization will allow my dog to be the happiest while doing the events. If he's not going to have fun doing it, there really is no point in me going through the process. I know that most organizations require neutering which is a very viable option, IF he'll have fun doing it

If he likes the water I'd look into Splash Dogs/Dock Dogs, which you don't have to register with, just register for events. (well at least Splash Dogs, I'm not familiar with Dock Dogs)... BUT if you have a UKC registration, jumps can go through a title with them if it's a UKC sanctioned event.

Agility would be another option, I like NADAC, they're more about safety, but I've got no clue if they're near you.

I'm in North Carolina. I know ADBA has events here, Pretty sure about UKC too.
