I've had my dog for 3 weeks now and been doing massive amounts of research on this forum and through resources. I have contacted trainers as well.
The past few weeks I have been looking through a lot of posts and I feel as though I have been nothing but discouraged. I want to incorporate my dog into my family and I hope to keep her until the end but everything I read makes me second guess my adopting her. I have a cat whom has been with me for the past 5 years and I hope to eventually introduce them, slowly of course. I read articles about that and every viewpoint seems to be negative. All I seem to come across are people talking about pitbulls killing cats blah blah. There seems to be the few "happy home" cases but these seem rare. I am now scared for my cat's wellbeing without them having been introduced at all. Also I one day, when I am older with a home, hope to have a multipet household with at least two dogs and my cat. So many users on here have multiple dogs in their home but everyone's input is that pit bulls should be alone all their lives. It seems almost hypocritical unless they're doing a crating routine. Is it impossible for these dogs to lively happily with other dogs? I enjoy everyone's brutal honesty here and it's what people need to hear but regardless it seems to put these dogs in a horribly negative light. I'd like to hear some positive things about these dogs aside from the fact about how aggressive they are (I already know that). With so much negativity it makes me wonder if I should keep my dog because everything I hear from others is so bad. I decided I wanted to adopt her because I wanted her to have a good life and to have a family which I intend to provide her with but with all the bad things I hear I wonder if she will every truly fit into my animal loving family. I need some reassurance... |
