Just went thru something similar with a foster. Christmas Eve she started acting strange. Like she was tired & not much appetite. No actual "sickness" like vomiting or diarrhea, etc. Mostly just personality, she was approx. 5 y/o & normally very happy & playful. The rescue's vet saw her on 12/26 & found out she was anemic & her white blood cell count was high. The 1st thought was she had somehow been poisoned. They gave her transfusions & ran more tests. She was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Her liver & lymph nodes were already enlarged. We were told she probably had a week or 2 to live. The transfusions had made a huge improvement in how she was acting so we brought her home to be spoiled & loved for as long as she was being like her normal self. On 1/18 she started acting tired again & lost the strength in her hind legs. On 1/19 she was pts. I'm glad we decided to have her that little bit of extra time.
