Sad, strange news on this boy.

He disappeared from the kennel the second night he was here. I can't figure how he got out..the kennel is covered, there is no way he could dig out (its lined in railroad beams), and there were no holes torn in the chain link. The gate was closed when I went out there yesterday morning.

I looked all over the property for him, but couldn't find him.

All I can figure is maybe someone came looking and found him in my kennel that night, and took him. When I leave my dogs in the kennels during the day, I put a clip in the door to keep it from opening. I think I'll be upgrading to a padlock.

I just pray that whoever took him was his owner, and they take care of him.

I did look at him more closely, and he looked old. He was pretty healthy, good weight and not scarred, just really dirty. He was a very sweet dog, when I went in there with him to give him food and water he was wiggling his whole butt, with his little nubby tail twitching a mile a minute.

I feel really bad about losing him. I hope he is ok.

It's weird how God sends us something to focus on when we are hurting so much. When my sister was killed, Mollie was right by my side, wouldn't leave me alone. When my best friend died last year, I had Bella in obedience classes... so I had to focus on her training instead of wallow in my own self pity. This year, I had no idea I was going to lose Maxx.... but July 1st, Cooper came home with me, and I had to take Maxx to the vet on July 4th. I didn't really have much time to grieve, although I did cry a lot, and I still do. But Cooper was a good distraction for me. He was covered in ticks and rail thin, with bald spots all over him from the ticks. He had to have eye surgery, and was neutered... He needed me to take care of him and focus on him.. which helped to get me past the loss of Maxx. Having to have him put down, broke my heart. He's the first dog I've ever had to make that decision with, and it still hurts like crazy.

This puppy came alone, because he was supposed to. You needed a distraction, and God sent you one. I'm not one to believe in weird things or anything like that... but if your kennel was still closed when you got up... and nothing disturbed around your yard..... maybe that puppy was sent from Heaven, from Hoss, just for you to see, for you to take care of, and for you to help ease your pain. Maybe Hoss sent that pup just for you for a couple of days.... maybe no one else saw him, heard him, or realized he was there, because maybe no one else was supposed to see him except you. Like I said, I'm not one that usually believes in weird stuff like that happening.... but maybe it does and we don't realize it.

I hope you are doing alright Libby, I thought about you this weekend. Sounds like you were sent a distraction in the form of another needy four legged barker. Could have just been an angel dog there to keep you temporarily busy.

Default Odd.
Tonight, about 20 minutes ago, the dogs all went nuts. Barking, growling, hackles up. Its not uncommon for them to bark, but to act so out right aggressively is strange.

They wouldn't stop, and they ALWAYS stop when told to hush.

I went outside and heard the neighbor's dogs were going crazy, too. So I got a flashlight and trekked off through the trees in that direction. I figured it was a cow, there were a few on the road earlier today.

At the point where our property line meets the neighbors, there was a large group of dogs picking on another dog. The moment I appeared, the dog who was getting beat up ran to me and hid behind my legs. Immediately the other dogs shut up and wandered off like it was no big deal. STRANGE.

I didn't have a leash, although at this point you'd think I would have one wrapped around my neck at all times. So, I took my belt off and looped it around the dogs neck, even though he had a collar on.

He was really good, stayed right with me. I only got a quick impression of him in the beam of the flashlight, but I think he's a rottweiler puppy, or a small adult rott/mix.

He's in my outdoor kennel right now, and he isn't happy. He was like glue to my leg, then I stuck him in there and he's been yelling his head off ever since.

I might try to get some pictures, because I wont be sleeping tonight anyway. He's a real sweet dog.

This all started at a low point, when I was really feeling bad about tomorrow morning. I think God sent me a distraction.

It is odd, but life and fate sometimes are ...

However, we are thinking about you - be strong.

My heart has been breaking for you and what you have to go through today Libby. When I went through this I at first didn't know if i was going to know when the right time was as I didn't want my dog to suffer and I didn't want my dog to suffer so I could have just a little more time with her.
The day came as clear as can be when I looked in her eyes and I knew it was time. Take care today

Thank you guys. I haven't slept a wink, and honestly I don't know how I'm going to go through with it. I know I will, but I keep just wanting to take Hoss and leave. The closer the time gets, the more my stomach hurts and the more panicy I get.

I only took a few pictures of the pup (I've dubbed him Godric for now, which means "Power of God"--Ric for short) and none of them turned out. I'm not much of a night time photographer.

Here is the 'best' one of the lot.

Maybe the Universe or God or whatever you want to call it sent this dog in need to you for a reason. Maybe he was meant for you and to help you through this rough time while you help him through his rough time.

Obviously Ric knew you are a dog person and would help him and the other dogs knew it too and thats why he hid behind you and the attackers left.
