Default Know what I hate about Windows?
I wake up to find my laptop has restarted. Microsoft updated in the middle of the night, and forced a restart.

Too bad. I had a project open in Photoshop.

Yeah, i know...save your work. But to have troll Microsoft screw me up by forcing MY machine to do something without my approval really pisses me off.

Change the settings in Control Panel, Automatic Updates, to "Download updates but let me chose when to install them" But be vigilant about it. When that little yellow shield with an exclamation point icon appears, do your updates, ASAP. Most updates are security related and hackers reverse engineer them so that they can figure out exploits for those out there they don't update as often as they should.

Or don't. I can use the money after the hackers have pwnd your* system with a rootkit.

* I'm talking to everybody not just BFFT reading this. Do your updates, everytime, Windows, Java, Flash, or Adobe PDF reader wants to update. Most of my service calls are from virues that exploit java and pdf files. And 90% of the machines that are brought to me for service, even hardware service have been rooted.

LOL. Good one.

BFFT, I had the same dang thing happen to me twice in the last couple of weeks. You'd have thought I'd learnt my lesson with the second one but no. I'm too stubborn/stupid/lazy. Sheesh.

Since I'm paranoid about such things, all of my updates on everything are manual. You let the blanky-blanky's do it on their own and soon you'll find yourself alligator deep in crap you neither want nor need like Yahoo toolbars.
