let me play devils advocate again.

Say israel stikes at irans known nuclear facilities with of course only conventional bombs like bunker busters and a few other high tech laser guided precision bombs etc...

ANd it merely delays Irans nuclear programme by 2 or 3 yrs, what than?

will israel simply have to stike iran every 3 or 4 yrs forever? to stop them getting nukes?

or how will it work, or will Iran simply give up producing a nuke after israel bombs the nuclear sites?

all opinions welcome.

You forget about the Iranian counter strike
They have the capability to take it to Israeli shores
Even tho Israel is aeons ahead it still is a small country and hence will need the US umbrella for the repercussions
And last I read Israel was talking about destroying their nuke bases which cannot be rebuilt in 3 or 4years
If they strike it will surely set the Iranians back by decades (They obviously will continue trying but that doesnt mean they have/will succeed

@Pleepleus
You dont have to worry about them pakis
They are shit scared that if they move one soldier from the border we will invade
So you can count the pak factor out especially when Israel and India are so close, Pak wont dare directly aide or abet Iran( like in the six day war)

Iran has to be broken financially. A millitary strike too soon will allow them to recover and as we see the guilt factor kicking in aid will follow to help them rebuild. Iran needs to be driven down to a level where recovery takes many decades by which time the oil will have run out. Poor fanatical enemies can be disregarded. rich ones are the worry.

explain to me how north korea , which is im guessing , much poorer than Iran, and has less friends than iran, managed to build nukes and missiles?

financial sanctions alone will not stop iran from building a nuke, they would rather see their people starving in the streets but to get the bomb.

Iran can simply uses islamist proxies in friendly countries to continue financial operations, for eg. Iranian agents can go to say Somalia, open up a small regional bank (using false names not iranian names of course) and transfer irans funds in cash to this bank in somalia, and when the iranian proxy bank is open in mogadishu, than it can start making financial transactions electronically overseas, as im guessing somalia is not under such strict financial sanctions as iran is at the moment.

Default Israel to delay strike on Iran until after US elections?
Security should never take a back seat to political considerations when a country's existence is on the line.

Israel will only strike Iranian nuclear facilities in September or after the United States presidential elections in November, a White House official told the British Sunday Times newspaper after a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama last week.

According to the report, Obama has taken Israel's warnings about a possible strike in Iran very seriously. The Washington source added that the president “might visit in the summer to reassure the Israelis that the US commitment to defend Israel is unshakable and thus thwart a possible autumn attack.”

Obama insisted that any attack on Iran should be postponed until after the US presidential elections in November, possibly even until next spring. The source revealed that Netanyahu consented to delaying a strike, but wished to know until when. “The question is how much time,” he reportedly said...

The source reported that Israel's National Security Advisor Yaakov Amidror presented US administration and military officials with new intelligence data about Iran's nuclear program. The findings included "Project 111," a project to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile warhead and conduct large-scale high-explosive experiments, the Sunday Times reported. Amidror also noted that a Russian expert in Tehran had been involved for the past six years in helping develop Iran's nuclear program... source: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...201228,00.html
