Default Netanyahu Speech to US Congress - May 24, 2011
Israel's PM, Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United States Congress today. Here are some of my observations. Please feel free to add your own!

1. It was an amazing show of respect for Israel and there was unprecedented bipartisan cheering and standing ovations throughout the speech. It was a warm welcome to an extent not see in congress, basically ever, and Netanyahu was treated as no other foreign dignitary.

2. The warm reception and standing ovations made clear that President Obama stands in sharp contrast with Congress. Obama is now isolated and out of touch with the true representatives of the American people.

3. Netanyahu affirmed his willingness to support a Palestinian state, if the Palestinians break off their alliance with terrorist group Hamas and recognizes the right if Israel to exist as a Jewish state.

4. Netanyahu rejected an imposed peace (as Obama has been attempting to impose), and will only accept a negotiated peace. Congress cheered.

5. Netanyahu spoke about annexing the main settlement blocks, but acknowledged that some settlements would wind up outside Israel's borders. What that means for the citizens of those towns is unclear. But it only goes three ways: Either they will live under Palestinian occupation, be ethnically cleansed by the Palestinians, or they will be forcefully and brutally transferred by Israeli troops as happened in Gaza. That will cause potentially a mini civil war in Israel and Israeli society will never be the same. IMO, it would be better to allow the settlers to live under Palestinian occupation.

6. Netanyahu made a few very string points: that under Obama's 1967 plan, the Palestinian missiles would take only 60 seconds to hit any house in Israel. He also pointed out that currently, out of 300 million Arabs, only 1 million of those Arabs enjoy democracy - those living in Israel.

7. Literally, during Netanyahu's speech, the IAEA formally announced that Iran is currently manufacturing nuclear weapons, and that the reactor that Israel bombed recently in Syria was a nearly completed nuclear weapons plant.

8. Netanyahu thanked the US profusely for its support and confirmed that the US has no better friend and ally in the world than Israel.

and then there are the roaches that crawled out of the woodwork... The Republicans should take 100% opportunity to bludgeon the Obama regime over abandoning long standing US allies, first and foremost Israel, but others as well. They should absolutely do their out most to cut funding to every sharia connected state in the world.

I think it's pretty much high time to switch the record altogether. Hamas and PA are one, that means that Camp David 2 and everything since then is done with. No cooperations, Seal all borders to all Arabs, and prepare for war. The merger of Hamas with the governing body of the "Palestinians" is a Casus Belli. At least it would be, if it wasnt for the weak-kneed, hand-wringing, terror apologists, from Tel Aviv and the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Absolutely. And where are the big shot Democrats like Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz who were silent the whole time Obama was creating a crisis with Netanyahu? I hope her Jewish constituents hold her responsible for the crisis as well.

Right. Having an al Qaeda/Taliban run government building a country that sits on your land should not be even discussed.

Also wanted to add:

On the issue of Jerusalem - Netanyahu said it would remain the undivided capital of Israel.

On the issue of Palestinian who left Israel to clear the way for invading Arab armies in 1948 (aka so-called Palestinian refugees) - Netanyahu confirmed that they would not return to Israel, but instead go to their own Palestinian state if they so desire.

Bibi received 29 standing ovations, which surpasses the 25 ovations Obama got during his 2011 State of the Union address.

Is there anyway Congress can give Obama a choice of quiting as President or having his underwear hung up on the flagpole?

Already Glenn Greenwald is calling Congress "passive-aggressive" traitors to Obama for even suggesting that Hamas isn't a peace organization. The weird thing is that Greenwald HATES Obama, basically calling him a far right wing psychopath in all his columns.

We should only be so lucky!

On the positive side, Congress, since having a Republican majority, has prevented many of Obama's Soviet-style socialist plans for America. On the negative side, Congress hasn't been able to block the disastrous foreign policies of the Obama/Clinton administration.

The weird thing is that Greenwald HATES Obama, basically calling him a far right wing psychopath in all his columns.
LOL! Obama isn't really very much to the right of Karl Marx.

Well, we knew the Palestinians wouldn't miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity for peace:

From news article:
RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's parameters for a peace deal, outlined in a speech to the U.S. Congress on Tuesday fell far short of what is needed to resume negotiations, Palestinian officials said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gestures while speaking Tuesday on Capitol Hill. From left are, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nev., House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, Netanyahu, House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California.

Nabil Shaath, an aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said Netanyahu's insistence on keeping key parts of the territories the Palestinians want for their state is a "declaration of war against the Palestinians."

In another 30 days they can impeach him for violating the War Powers Act in Libya (though I doubt they have the cajones).

That would be a dream come true for so many Americans.
