Default Mr. Peanut Head
He is the only surviving member of the Camp David Accords, and although all three dignitaries involved received the Nobel Peace prize for their efforts, poor Jimmy must still see 444 every time he closes his eyes. I like him as a person (Habitat, etc.), but he had no lasting foreign policy and no clear idea on what to do in today's world. Like Bubba, he still is in search of a surviving legacy to put into the "History Books." Unlike Bubba, he got a few real hits in a "hardball" world and he knows which end of a nail to hit with a hammer. Bubba and Al had trouble figuring that out one out. Camp David was a world class achievement, even if it didn't have a lasting effect. Too bad that he can't find solace in that. I find him to be a nice guy with bad past and current foreign policy and better current domestic policy. I really feel sorry for him.

I think he is a hell of a nice guy. Well meaning too. It's just a pity that he can't understand the "Middle East mindset" and Middle East realities. He seems to think that people in the Middle East have the same peaceful live and let live mentality as Scandinavians.

Don't get me wrong, I am not excusing him. He is a misguided old man who would do better if he kept his mouth shut. And more than that, he totally mishandled the iranian hostage crisis! But having said that, I think he always sought peaceful solutions and his overall intentions were good, though misguided. As they say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"!

Jimmy Carter Discusses with CNN His Views on Israel, Hamas

BLITZER: The article that you wrote suggests that the United States has to find a way to make sure that money continues to go to the Palestinians. But how do you do that if the government of the Palestinians is controlled by a group that the U.S. government, the State Department, identifies as a terrorist organization?

CARTER: Well, there are several ways to do it. One -- the first thing I'd like to say is that the money that the Israelis are withholding is actually Palestinian money. It doesn't belong to the Israelis, it belongs to the Palestinians.

And this money was destined to be used by the government, whoever is in control of it, for teacher's salaries, for health care, for welfare workers and so forth, and also to pay policemen. And to withhold the Palestinian's money, I think, is going to be a very damaging thing as far as the entire population of Palestine is concerned. They're going to resent it very...

BLITZER: These aren't taxes... Please understand that the source is a pro-pal site (and CNN also skews pro-pal), so, if anyone cares to quibble about some of the other portions of the 1st half of the article, please consider the source.
