Election Day is only a few days away. And the campaign of disinformation and distortions against John Kerry is still going strong within the Jewish community.

To help dispel the myths, today we're going to look at 10 things every American Jew should know about John Kerry as Tuesday draws near. On Monday, we'll take a similar look at 10 critical things to know about George W. Bush.

Please take a moment to forward these facts to friends, relatives and others who should see them.

These key points and other talking points regarding the candidates' positions on Israel, the separation of church and state, and other domestic issues can be viewed by
clicking here. http://njdc.org/takeaction/?sub=1

10 Things Every American Jew Should Know About John Kerry

1. As the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported on May 18, 2004, John Kerry has a "100 percent pro-Israel voting record in the Senate."

2. John Kerry is a strong defender of the separation between church and state. As he told the Dubuque Telegraph Herald on July 4, 2004, "I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist. ...[W]e have separation of church and state in the United States of America."

3. While George W. Bush has remained silent, John Kerry has condemned virulently anti-Semitic statements from Saudi Arabia's leaders. As he said on May 5, 2004, "Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Abdullah's outrageous anti-Semitic comments this week blaming 'Zionists' for the terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia raises serious questions about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to combating terrorism. President Bush has said nothing. As President, I will never permit this kind of attack to go unanswered."

4. John Kerry has consistently voted to protect reproductive rights. As NARAL
http://www.naral.org/
has noted, John Kerry "has consistently protected the right to choose, and has cast over 100 pro-choice votes in the U.S. Senate. He believes that decisions involving pregnancy and medical care should be left to women and their doctors, not politicians."

5. John Kerry has strongly supported Israel's security fence. As he said during a debate back on February 29, 2004, the fence is "necessary to the security of Israel until they have a partner to be able to negotiate."

6. John Kerry is a leader on environmental issues. As the League of Conservation Voters http://www.lcv.org/ has said, "With a history of engagement that extends back to the first Earth Day in 1970, Senator Kerry is one of America's premier environmental leaders."

7. John Kerry will lift the ban on federal funding for stem cell research. As he said on August 7, 2004, "Here in America, we don't sacrifice science for ideology."

8. John Kerry has been a time-tested leader on issues relating to Israel, dating back to his co-sponsorship of a 1987 resolution disapproving "Maverick" missile sales to Saudi Arabia -- a top priority for the pro-Israel community at the time.

9. John Kerry has been repeatedly applauded by the Orthodox Union http://www.ou.org/for his consistent bi-partisan leadership in advancing the Workplace Religious Freedom Act in the United States Senate.

10. John Kerry has clearly supported Israel's right to target terrorists, including Hamas leadership, for assassination. When asked whether he supported Israel's assassination of Hamas leader Rantisi on NBC's "Meet the Press" on April 18, 2004, he replied: "I believe Israel has every right in the world to respond to any act of terror against it. Hamas is a terrorist, brutal organization. It has had years to make up its mind to take part in a peaceful process; and they refuse to, Arafat refuses to."

Stay tuned for our next installment on Monday, when we will take a similar look at 10 critical things that every American Jews should know about George W. Bush.

The "Fence" is clearly an act of self defense and it is working.
