I can only hope that Kerry, Kennedy, and their cohorts succeed in their call for a filibuster of Samuel Alito's full Senate fote for confirmation. The Republicans will defeat it in short order... but not before the full American public gets a close view of just how mendacious and obstructive the Democrats are.
The Democrats have been tripping over themselves repeatedly in their efforts to keep off the bench a judge who will point out that much of their agenda is unconstitutional. A filibuster would generate one of the harder falls they take. And the more they try, the more the public sees how unfit they are to govern. Keep up the good work, Demmies! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------------ http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/01/26/alito/index.html Kerry will try Alito filibuster Thursday, January 26, 2006; Posted: 6:45 p.m. EST (23:45 GMT) Sen. John Kerry is trying to gather support to block Judge Samuel Alito's nomination. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John Kerry will attempt a filibuster to block the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, CNN has learned. Kerry, in Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum, was marshaling support in phone calls during the day, Democratic sources told CNN. Sources say Kerry talked to a group of Democratic senators Wednesday, and urged that they join him. He also has the support of fellow Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy. Some senior Democrats told CNN they are worried that the move could backfire. ![]() "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into, Johnny." . ---------------------------------- (Full text of the article can be read at the above URL) |

Now - if the full American public hasn't gotten completely bored and switched over to Amercian Idol yet, now you can explain to them why this is all so important, and how it affects them personally. Still got their attention? Eh, maybe a few Americans are still listening to you, but most of them have gone off to bed, because they have a long day tommorow. I think you give the public too much credit. The average joe on the street - the majority of the public - doesn't give two craps about this stuff. |

I have sent a message to him stating that he can't win and that the attempt is a detriment both to the democrats, and the American people. You seem to be wanting to stir up trouble to serve your own political biases. |

Now maybe I'm a little confused, but isn't the Senate in session? What in the Hell is Kerry doing in Davos, Switzerland? Is he in THEIR Senate? Is Switzerland calling for a filibuster? Aren't we paying him to be in the good old US of A, doing a job HERE, rather than fucking off in Switzerland? Is there a ketchup convention there? Somebody please explain this!

Alito is a done deal and there is absolutely nothing Teddy or Kerry can do about it. The Liberals are taking a big one in the shorts with Alito and are also creating a huge rift in the Democratic party.
There won't be any filibuster because Alito already has the votes to overcome one and the Democrats don't have the will for such a fight this close to the election. Politically the Democrats are almost totally neutered. They have no power to do anything but stand in the way of the Republican juggernaut led by Karl Rove. The best they can do on this is whine and get drunk. |

Since he is in Switzerland he can't very well be accused of not starting a filibuster himself. I am sure he will make a grand entry back to the US this coming Tuesday, one day after Alito is confirmed. He will make a big show for his liberal sheeple and that will be that. Kenndy will take out his trustration on a bottle of Scotch. Alito will be confirmed and now we need to hope for another liberal to leave the high court. The unborn babies in America are praying for just that. Besides, the Republicans deserve a nice cushion on the court in case of another close Presidential election. It never hurts to have friends in high places. |
